    Fresh Start Monday!

So since Thanksgiving I've been not making the best food choices. I've been slacking with my Protein and just overall slipping into bad habits. I am here today to start over. Today I was at the gym bright and early and have already had 30 grams of protein and 32 oz of Water. My goals for the week are to get 100oz of water and eat 3 meals a day. What a great opportunity Monday’s are! You get to fix what went wrong LAST week, you get to try the things that you were too afraid to do LAST week, you get to go after one of the infinite opportunites that are available to you that you put off LAST week…whoo hoo!! What will you do with your Fresh Start Monday??

I had surgery on March 8, 2011. I have been working my a** off (literally!) I am so proud of myself - I will say it because I deserve it! I have a good restriction right now. I watch my calories but, honestly not too strict with it. I eat low carb, high Protein, don't do bread or Pasta at all. I don't deprive myself, if I want something I have it. A small portion of it. I started working out about 8 weeks after surgery. I work out 4-5 days a week, two of those days with a trainer. I love it. I went from a tight size 26/28 to a 16 (!!!!). I started this journey at 371lbs and now weigh 256lbs. I want to get under 200 and then I will decide on a goal weight. I wanted to share some pictures to show my progress. I love my band! Sorry if the pictures are huge - I was having trouble resizing!!! Before (02/2011) During (Thanksgiving 2011)

Ten, Twenty Years Down The Line?

Yes, the band has only been approved in the US since 2001. They've been doing it Europe since the 80's. I'm not going to stress out over what will happen 10 or 20 years down the road. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. All I'm sure of is without my lapband I probably wouldn't have lasted that long anyway!

    Reasonable Lap Band Restriction

A slice of bread for breakfast why would you want bread instead of something more nutritious and 8 sushi is more than 3 to four ounces of food. I dont see giving up carbs as a demon but a way to lose weight forever. You may be able to eat bread after a fill it doesnt mean you wont but why waste calories on bread when you can eat more nutrious food.

    Start Pre-op Diet Tomorrow!

I will not lie to you and tell you that the pre-opt diet is easy. It is not. It takes will power and determination. But it does really prepare you for the after-banding. I found it much easier to transition to eating less once I was back on solid foods because of the weeks of liquids, then mushies and soft foods. I believe if you are successful on the pre-opt diet, you have a much better chance of not copping out later. IMHO. I'm rooting for you!

    December Bandsters!

I just joined the forums today. I began my pre-op diet today also....this is going to be 'interesting'. sigh. My surgery is scheduled for December 15. I'm very nervous and scared, but also optimistic, relieved and excited. Can't wait to be ME again. I've been my alternate self for far too long.

Exciting news! I am 64 and I was banded on June 22. I had planned to be off work about 2-1/2 weeks as everyone told me it takes longer for "older" people to heal. The only problems I had after surgery was the gas, it was the worse! My doctors office told me to take children's liquid advil and that helped. I was so bored at home I figured I could sit at work as well as sit at home. I went back to work on June 28. I've not had any problems, but must admit I was hungry for food on the 3rd day after surgery. I didn't want to give in and stayed on a liquid diet until July 3. I have lost about 20 lbs I think. I'm not into weighing myself and I'm going by how I feel and how my clothes fit me. I feel great and I wear baggy clothes I don't want to spend $ on new clothes until I lose a little bit more weight. Let me know how you are doing! I am looking forward to my new life as well. My biggest break through will be when I can buy in the "regular women's department"!!! What a happy day that will be! -Linda

    Reached your personal goal???

I met my personal goal of size 12, as for the weight, well it's been the same for months now, which is actually ok with me.
