How To Deal With Lap Band Haters?

"That's really nice of you. I would offer to save you all of my fat clothes as I shrink out of them but I'm afraid they'll be too small for you?"

I honetly hope that this remains true for you in your heart. At the end of the day, those numbers really do not matter. You have to be happy in who you are. I think a lot of us have learned that the weight loss alone will not guarantee happiness. So happy for you and your success. Now you have to find another part of your life where you can kick ass and take names! Wishing you all the best---

    November Bandsters!!!

Hello fellow bandsters - I was banded on 11/9/11, so I'm 3 weeks out today and feel fabulous. If you have an experienced surgeon, you have very little to worry about. I did not have near the pain I was so afraid of, tho I did get some pretty severe shoulder pain from the air they use for a couple of days. I started at 267 and am now 241 in a little over 5 weeks. I'm stuck at this weight for about the last week, but they tell me this is pretty typical until your first fill or two (mine is 12/13). Over the last week, I've been walking two miles a day and have had zero pain since about a week and a half out. My doc doesn't put anything in the band when he implants it, so I'm able to eat more things than they told me I would be able to, and more than they told me, which is where I am now - trying hard to remember why I've done all this. Follow your doctor's orders, if you have a family to feed, make sure your freezer is stocked, and allow yourself at least a week to get your bearings. This has been a walk in the park compared to what I had envisioned beforehand - but I'm also very committed to this new lifestyle. AND PRAYER HELPS IMMENSELY. Blessings to you and your journey .

I Backed Out Of My Lap Band Surgery!

I was diabetic with sleep apnea and overloaded knees that were going to need replacement if I didn't take some weight off them. My doctor finally put it in words I could understand. He said "You're going to die if you don't do something soon." I wasn't suicidal so I decided to lose some weight. I'd lost up to 80 lbs a number of times, but seemed to put it right back on. WLS didn't seem very manly, but then neither did dying, so here I am 50 lbs lighter and wishing I'd done it many years ago. Everyone needs to make their own decision about this in light of their own situation, in mine, I really wanted to see my grandchildren grow up, they're just too much fun for me not to be here for them. I went to the hospital my PCP recommended, which was a Center of Excellence in Beverly Hills, a horrible drive, but worth every shattered nerve. My surgeon and the hospital were so good I never the least pain except for my incisions. To this day, as I sit here with the shirt that didn't fit two months ago,I haven't had the slightest reason to regret it. When guys ask "Why in the world did you do that?" I say "Pick up a hundred pound sack and carry it around all day and You'll see".
