    Gnc Protein Powders

GNC Pro Performance is my favorite brand. I always get vanilla and add to it. For chocolate add cocoa powder and a little splenda. Add frozen fruit and splenda, or Peanut Butter and splenda, or frozen sweet cherries and splenda, or pumpkin pie spice and splenda, or a banana and splenda, you get the picture. The banana GNC is good, but I tend to get sick of it before I can finish the tub. Chocolate is good, especially with the frozen sweet cherries and splenda. I always mix all of my Protein shakes with skim milk for the added protein. Good luck!

I had a fill 3 days ago and the nurse practioner said "If you can't eat solid protein and veggies/fruit at every meal; you are TOO TIGHT". Sounds like you need a slight unfill. I am a year out and knock on wood I have never vomited, frothed or slimmed.

I was banded 11/21/2011. I LOVE food, I'll admit it. I think the way to look at this is we can still love food, just less of it. I have had to do alot of soul searching to see why I ate when I ate. I found a lot of times I just ate out of bordom, depression, etc. I also love to show off that I as a man, know how to cook better than most women...lol This is a journey, a lifes decsion to be thinner, not just to be smaller, but for health reasons. And no, this isnt easy, not at all. But I "HAD" to make a change. It has been a week and I can already feel a change in my self, I feel happier and seem to have more energy to get up and do things. I try to exclude almost all carbs and starchs which were the basics of my whole diet before the band. Good luck on your journey, and never be afraid to ask for help or advice.

5 months for me too!! I was the same weight for a month, then got a fill and lost some weight. It was definitely pleasing not to have gained, but disappointing at the same time not to have lost. I got the fill and in a week I had lost 5-6 lbs. I am one week two of the fill and hoping to lose 2 or 3 more pounds. Please join me on myfitnesspal, I see you have an account as well. My user name amjcmral. Hungry is another issue. I eat when I am thirsty, a terrible habit that Istruggle with everyday, and most days don't overcome. But what I did, is put a sticky note on my fridge that says " you are not hungry, drink water". Just a silly idea. Good luck talk to you soon, And cheers to both of our success!

Lots of good questions. First, people call the band a "Tool". I personally do not understand this concept because a tool is something that makes work easier. Being banded has not been work for me. Well, maybe yes in the early stages. To me, the band was "surgical intervention" that, were diets have failed me in the past, this is a foreign object wrapped around my stomach and adjusted (tightened) that prevents me from doing something that I tend to do. And that is overeating. Period. Simple. The 2nd thing the band does for me, is it stimulates certain nerves signaling the brain that I am not hungry. Notice I did not say "Full". There is a difference between the 2. Example: Yesterday was thanksgiving. I sat at the table and ate till I felt full. Which was very early, eating very little because of the band and the pouch. Today, as I am typing this, I have not had a single thing to eat yet today (other than coffee and some water) and I am not hungry. I even went to the gym this am, so I should be hungry enough to eat a very large Breakfast. But I don't feel like eating. That's the band talking to my brain! Also keep in mind it took me 4 months past surgery to start to get these results. It was not instant. So yes, as you say, diets have failed before. They failed because WE have to do the work with discipline. That is why I needed to have my stomach banded! Because I could not do it. Also, keep in mind as you read all the posts on this board. As with any "Bell Curve" you will have people on both ends. Those who have had the surgery and never need a adjustment (fill) and loose weight just fine, and at the other end there are those where everything went wrong for whatever reason. But then there is the large bulge (bell) in the middle where the majority are.

I am soooo happy there are others out there that follow the steps!! I was sober for 3 years, then slipped for 2. Now, I have not been going to meetings lately, but have been sober (dry) and am looking at getting banded in May. I am looking forward to getting back to meetings and the steps. It is amazing how quickly the sick thinking comes back when I don't go to meetings. I know the ONLY way I will be successful with my surgery and journey is with the help of my Higher Power, AA, and all of you. Thanks for being here!! Angie
