I was banded 11/11/11 . Dont think i can forget that date that easy. Anyways im 33 years old and decided that i needed to change my life. Everyone has always asked did you try W/W, south beach diet, atkins and yes to all above plus many more. If i could follow a diet id be skinny i said but that is my DEMON. Some demons like booze , drugs mines loves the taste of food. Anyways a came here on a search for some amazing people that i can share and chat with our journeys together. If you would like to do so that would be fanastic. Good luck too all

    My First Nsv!!!

Even though I just had surgery on Monday, I've already had a non scale victory! When I logged today's weight into my fitness pal, it said because I had lost more than 10 pounds, they had to recalculate my goals. I know my calorie goal was over 1300 (which I thought was a bit much) but now it's down 1240. I'm totally psyched! I'm not logging my food right now because I'm just on full liquids. I'm nowhere close to the amount of calories I should be having, so I don't see the sense in it. I love this app!!

    Holy Slime!!!

I have found that my "Draino" is wine! Seriously! Especially red wine - small sips helps unclog you or prevents you from PBing. The key is small sips and you can actually feel it declogging. Now I realize this might not be a good solution for work, but in the evening it would work

Wow ! even after Thanksgiving Dinner I still dropped in size somewhere. This morning I got up and put on a size 18W Petite Chic Jeans,They fit. I tried them on last week and needed a good 2" to close them. Not anymore ! So I really do love this band... Next is a size 16 ! That will come before I know it. I got time, just as long as this band keeps on doing it's job, and it will, because I will be the one working it. A nice early Christmas Present for me. I'll take it ! Shirley.

Lots of good questions. First, people call the band a "Tool". I personally do not understand this concept because a tool is something that makes work easier. Being banded has not been work for me. Well, maybe yes in the early stages. To me, the band was "surgical intervention" that, were diets have failed me in the past, this is a foreign object wrapped around my stomach and adjusted (tightened) that prevents me from doing something that I tend to do. And that is overeating. Period. Simple. The 2nd thing the band does for me, is it stimulates certain nerves signaling the brain that I am not hungry. Notice I did not say "Full". There is a difference between the 2. Example: Yesterday was thanksgiving. I sat at the table and ate till I felt full. Which was very early, eating very little because of the band and the pouch. Today, as I am typing this, I have not had a single thing to eat yet today (other than coffee and some water) and I am not hungry. I even went to the gym this am, so I should be hungry enough to eat a very large Breakfast. But I don't feel like eating. That's the band talking to my brain! Also keep in mind it took me 4 months past surgery to start to get these results. It was not instant. So yes, as you say, diets have failed before. They failed because WE have to do the work with discipline. That is why I needed to have my stomach banded! Because I could not do it. Also, keep in mind as you read all the posts on this board. As with any "Bell Curve" you will have people on both ends. Those who have had the surgery and never need a adjustment (fill) and loose weight just fine, and at the other end there are those where everything went wrong for whatever reason. But then there is the large bulge (bell) in the middle where the majority are.

    Ahh It's The Ex!

Be sure to enjoy the "Dang, I messed up!" look in his eye when you nonchalantly smile, say hi, and walk right on past him.

    Coming out of the closet

For me I had no problem telling my Parents and will probably tell the rest of my family after the fact. But I'm completely and utterly mortified of people at my work place finding out. It's embarrassing to me. And I think the reason is because it's admitting out loud that I'm FAT. Before I would just pretend people ignored that about me, but actually saying to them "Hey I'm fat and can't lose weight on my own" that just makes me want to crawl under a desk and never come out. Ironically I actually ended up telling my boss because 1) it made it easier to request that much time off and 2) I figured he would realize it eventually anyways. It was difficult telling him but i did it via chat and that took some of the sting off. I still don't want my other coworkers to know, but i figure after its done i'll probably end up casually mentioning it to them. I'll still be embarrassed but i've told myself to just suck it up and move on.
