    Really ?!!! Am I Alone?

It has its ups and downs but worth the effort. I have 3 kids two are teenagers. Needless to say they only want to eat the things I buy for my diet needs. Then when I get enough for them they don't want it and complain that they only have healthy stuff. My teenage daughter is one the biggest challenge. My sister doesn't help either making things I can not have at all. Then she tries to serve them to me insisting I try it. So I totally hear where you are coming from. We can do this though! Crystal

Week 5: Back To The Grind

I really don't like muscle milk. I had to drink muscle milk light pre-op and it was ok, but for some reason after surgery it tasted worse lol. In my bariatric "bible" we got in our pre-op class, we have a recipe for a home made protein shake: 1 packet sugar free carnation instant breakfast (you could also use regular, any flavor) 1 c non fat milk 1/3 c nonfat dehydrated milk (this adds the extra protein) Shake up or mix until blended. They are pretty tasty, I usually get the rich chocolate flavor. The strawberry is also good. I only had to do the liquid pre op diet for 2 days, but I know its tough to get the shakes in. It is totally worth it, trust me! The carnation instant home made protein shakes are much better than the muscle milk, and you can also use warm milk, tastes just like hot chocolate. The total grams of protein in a home made shake if you use the above recipe is 21 grams. I'm not sure if you have to count grams of protein like I did or not, but I thought I'd list it anyway. Good luck with the pre-op liquids. Just remember, its all for a greater good!

    Really ?!!! Am I Alone?

No honey, you're not being mean, but this is going to happen. He doesn't have the lap band, you do. And I'm sure you knew how it was going to be before you got it. I don't want to sound mean to you, because I'm on your side. I get it. It's not easy by any stretch of the imagination, but I promise you it will be worth it!!! It stinks that he mentioned he wanted to share the cookies with you. That was definitely thoughtless, but it's pretty new, and maybe he forgot, or just wasn't thinking. At any rate, I don't feel like you will be able to expect him to not make popcorn, not have snacks, and not continue to eat the same way he did before. Think about how difficult it was for you not to eat that way before surgery, and what you had to go through in an effort to make it stop. YOU had the surgery, so the difficult part is yours to take on. It would be awesome if he could manage to stop eating in his normal way to make it easier on you, but that's not likely to happen. Sooooo, the best advice I have to give you is to hang in there, and don't be too hard on people for doing what they have always done. And mostly, remember that nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!! NOTHING! You can do it and I hope you will. By the time your first 100 pounds is gone, you will realize that it was a very small price to pay! Trust me on this! Cheering you on from the Nebraska prairie...

A Few Thousands Of Dollars For What.....

Frustration is abound. I had my surgery on Aug 2nd. Filled..unfilled...Filled...filled, now back for an unfill. Its hard to find that "sweetspot" with the lapband. There are so many variables and EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. I am going back in tomorrow after being filled last wed. Thank god my husband was out of town all week, it has been difficult weekend and I was try ing to make the best of a bad situation. Thinking I could handle eating 1 TBL at a time and spitting it up. TG is right around the corner and its just me and the spouse. I will cook the TG dinner as always, but probably wont get to eat a bit of it. I dont really care, I just want to continue to lose weight, but not spitting it up. Good Luck. Just know that everyone is different and all the food that you can or cant eat varies as well.

Day 5 on my journey - Your body is your forum

I have not heard of a doctor filing the band when they put it in because of the swelling you have from having it put on I will not get my first fill for about 2 months after Iam banded thats why they tell you to do just the liquids and cold thing that first week cold fliuds and popscicles to help reduce the swelling I think this guy should be picking up the tab for your ER stay as this was his fault.
