    Lap Band-buddies

I'm hoping to make a few band buddies with the same surgery date (December 8). Everything is easier when you have friends to lean on, especially when we are going through the same thing! Casey

If you were addicted to cocaine would he tell you to just figure this addiction stuff out on you own with no medical assistance? I would guess not. This is a long term solution. Most of us can loose weight the question is can we keep it off forever.

    November Bandsters!!!

Thank you for your post! It is very reassuring to here from people who have been at this for a while. I get nervous about how the rest of my life will look like. I keep asking myself is this something that I will be able to have the strenght to keep up for the rest of my life? Will the band last for years inside of me? I know I'm going through with it, but I can't help but ask myself these questions. It is just the mental game that I've played with myself all my life and which has played a huge part in my gaining the weight that I've been fighting to lose all of my life.

Gonna run my first 5k run!

If you can run 5, the race day adrenaline will get you through the last 3, lol. Fantastic achievement, running was always the main goal, I always imagined that feeling of triumph as I crossed a finish line. I didnt quite imagine myself crossing first, lol, and I dont think THAT will ever happen but we are competing against ourselves first and foremost.

Cedars-Sinai is the best in SoCal, but it's a difficult drive from Hesperia. There is one in Orange county, a couple others in LA, and two in San Diego. I went to Cedars and recommend it highly. If you send me an email, I can give you more info. I'm about 35 miles from you.

not too sure where to post this.....

You have already identified your problem and you already know the answer. Stop eating sliders and go for the correct foods which will fill you up properly and allow you to lose the weight. It is hard. No one said that it would be easy. You have done wonderfully so far and would be considered to be more successful than the "AVERAGE" bandster. Remember the band is only designed to help you lose 60 - 70% of your excess weight. Maybe you should give yourself a break for a couple of weeks and by that I don't mean eat anything and everything in sight. Enjoy what you have achieved so far, work at maintaining that and then refocus on losing when you feel you have the energy and committment. It isn't like it is a race. There is no fixed date by when you have to lose the weight, this is for life.

    Psychological problems

I can't really say I know how you feel. I'm in my 50's . Although I have to say if I knew in my 20's what I know in my 50's, the 20's would have had a lot less problems. I'd say that instead of thinking about intimacy so soon let a guy get to really know you. If he's wanting to jump in bed right away, he's not for you anyway. The longer you hold out ( not have sex) the better chance you have of finding someone who cares about the real YOU not just what they see. Men enjoy a challenge.

Hi Folks. If anyone approaches the point when a panniculectomy (apron) is going to be done, please be sure to contact local burn centers to possibly donate! I have worked with WLS patients for several years and hear that is a need. Sometimes if insurance won't pay, I have heard that burn centers might help or advise. Thanks, SanDiegoSue

    Eating Two days after surgery

Yes Corrigan, I have read the other posts and wonder why people get this surgery and not follow the instructions. I work in the medical field and I also know that some people are different and the treatment that helps one person does not affect another. I have put alot into this. I made sure to make my own broths so that I would be eating health after surgery. I stocked up on sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, sugar free cool whip, diet drink mixes and petty of bottles of water. I have cut out caffiene and acidic foods that may irritate my stomach. I crush my pills to fine powder and buy the more expensive liquid option for medications. I am losing weigh even though my band is still empty. I had a cup of orange tomato soup, less acidic than red, this morning and I haven't even though about lunch. I am not complaining about anything. I just wanted to know if there where people out there having less problems than others. I know this is a tool and I have to know how to best use it to make it work for me.
