    liver shrinking diet

Not to brag, but I guess I got lucky all around. My insurance didn't require ANY required diet consulations, less the 1 single visit with a nutritionist. So far no pre-op diets (althought I have been reducing carbs, weaned off carbination and caffeine) I've been doing shakes for breakfast, lunch, small salads, protein puddings, LOTS of water, walking and cutting back on my dinner portions, I've been trying to get into the no drinking before or after a "meal" habit, chewing until the food is as liquid as it can be, so it might not be a full on required pre-op shrinkage diet, but I'm sure it will help come time to poke and prod...

    liver shrinking diet

My doctor advised doing a one week liver shrinking diet, and Clear liquids the day before surgery. Instead of starting the liver diet on Thursday of this week, I just started it on Monday to get a few extra days in (and to start a fresh week). I have a Protein shake for Breakfast, Protein Shake and raw veggies for lunch, hard-boiled egg for mid afternoon snack and fish or chicken and veggies for dinner. If I get hungry I have sugar free Jello. I will do whatever the doctor asks of me before and after surgery to assure a safe and smooth surgery and success after surgery. After surgery I need to be on clear liquids only for a week, then liquids (Protein shakes, tomato Soup, etc), mushies, soft foods and finally regular foods, each stage lasting a week. I will be very excited to move to liquids on Thanksgiving day and enjoy soup of some sort J Yes, the holidays will be hard, but my long term health is so worth it!!!

Yes i eat everything in small amts. However, I was very strict for first few months. You are just starting your journey& many people have struggled with slow weight loss,so my opinion still remains .. wait awhile before you treat yourself.By the way I don't count calories,I eat regular food & go out to dinner 3X/week

More thoughts... Do you guys NEVER have a drink or anything with empty calories? I am really fascinated by this. I am doing really great with the band and expect to keep doing so, but I am still doing to enjoy life. When my son turns 3 in April, I will have cake, but I won't eat a piece the size of texas this time. I got the band to help me control my poritons which it completely does. I don't eat 1/4 of what I used to, SERIOULSY not even a 1/4. But I am not doing to use this to control me. I control it and my eating. I dont mean to offend, but this band is for me to help not eat enough for 3 people. I didn't get fat from a twinkie. I got fat from eating a box of them. Just my two cents.

But how is that sabotaging? I am not going to NEVER drink again. That's not why I got the band. I can factor it into my daily allotment. I don't get that argument. How can I follow their instructions? They told me to never drink it ever again because of the calories. Well I am not going to NEVER going to put empty calories in my body. That's not even realistic. But I can be smart about it. My question was about just being post-op and it being ok with my healing.

    Really Disgusted

Well, did the new doctor give you another fill or did he just put the 1 1/2 cc's back in? I hope he added more. If you think having more in your band will help then go for it. Sometimes we can make wrong food choices no matter how much we have in our band. I say "we" because I have been making poor food choices lately. I am at 7.7 cc's and it feels perfect but I am still eating ice cream, Cookies, and chips like a doe doe head! I was doing fine before I got married but now....oh, I'm supposed to be encouraging you! Sorry! Well, good luck with getting better fills and getting back into smaller sizes.

    Pre-Op Diet for everyone?

My doctor ordered me to be on a 3 week pre-op diet. This Friday, my surgery day, will mark the end of my 3 weeks. My Daily Menu: Breakfast: Protein shake Lunch: Protein Shake Snack: 1/2 cup Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt (I add a packet of Stevia In the Raw to sweeten it up.) Dinner: 1 cup of broth based Soup Water: 64 ounces/day I was miserable the first week of my diet but my body has adjusted to it so I'm a happy camper. I've lost a total of 21 pounds.
