I read these post here yesterday and commented myself about how no one at work had really said anything about my weight loss. Today I wore something a size smaller (pants and top) and my boss said 'wow, you're really slimming down' and then one of the men in the office said 'your hair looks really nice' I said thank you and he then replied 'as a matter of fact you are glowing, whats going on with you?". So I told him I have lost 67 pounds and he said he had noticed but was afraid to say anything. So, I guess some of you previous poster are correct. Some people, for whatever reason are afraid to say anything. I don't like a lot of attention on me but it's nice to hear this because it shows me other poeple are noticing my weight loss. It's encouraging to me. What a good day today is!! -
1 pointI was losing 2 lb a day after my cancer diagnosis and i was already thin. But that highly anxious unable to eat state doesnt tend to last, you do improve somewhat. I too used exercise to get me through, focussing on my running helped me through a pretty awful year but i have ended it very thin, its kind of inevitible. Be strong, you can survive this xxx

1 pointThe surgery you're so concerned about is the very easiest part of the whole trip. You show up and they do the rest. I can't tell you how your recovery will be, mine was uneventful, no pain, very easy. If you can get things on line, you can get everything you need. Amazon has every thing you'll want. costco also sells Protein powder on line. You're making this much more difficult than it has to be. Probably the most important part of the whole thing is a good surgeon and good pre and post op education and support. As far as medical support, the band is the simplest and safest form of WLS, I can't imagine you are anywhere that any unlikely problems you might encounter can't be taken care of. With that I wish you a successful journey.

Can I tell you...for me, Its because of jealousy and the fact I cant face my own disappointments in myself. My best friend, who has been my best friend since we were 9...started weight watchers in january - shes lost about 40 pounds...and i notice...i never say anything...because it reminds me of how much of a failure i am - she has seen me lose and gain and lose and gain...this was her first attempt at changing her lifestyle. How come she can do it and I cant? I am jealous of her. So much so that i cant bare to hang out with her. Because looking at her makes me think about how I want to be in her shoes so badly....I want those things...maybe its me being caddy. I dont know. But thats why i dont say anything....and I hate myself for it - because she deserves to hear it...and I just cant do it because it kills me inside. -
1 pointI'm not sure about this poster. I am sure I have read an almost identical post somewhere before. It seems as though this has been copied and just tweaked a bit but I could be wrong. Just something seems slightly strange but maybe it's just the cynic in me coming out.

Fighting the Negativity Makers...
Corrigan reacted to SkinnyMiniMe for a post in a topic
Last night I got a dose of negativity I did not tell many people (about 3 people know) about my decision to have this surgery BUT the one friend that knows actually had the Lapband. We went out last night. She just got a fill a couple days ago so she was only able to eat 1/2 of a Soup just the broth and an Iced Tea. So in the middle of dinner, she starts telling me how hard it is...blah...blah...blah and I started to freak !!!! I actually started to think that maybe this surgery is not for me. I understand she is trying to make sure that I know what I am getting into. Fear set in ! Then this morning my mom made a comment about the bagel I was eating and how I will only be able to eat a mini. She then proceeded to tell me that her neighbor got the Lapband and started at size 18 and is now a 20!.It made me sooooo frustrated. I was prepared for the negative talk BUT it's hard not to second guess your decision. My husband who was with me in both incidences and is also getting the lapband, said that he does not care what anybody says. He did not get swayed at all. So as I was getting dressed and was struggling to tie my sneakers I realized that this is the right decision for me. I ate plenty of bagels in my lifetime it's time for a change! Then I remembered from a Dr. Robert Anthony book "Beyond Positive Thinking" he says fear is not tangible. You can't go and get a bucket of fear. You create in your mind. Just a couple of his quotes that help me stay strong: (1) "We fear the thing we want the most" (2) "don't listen to others who are coming from fear and living in negativity. If you do, you are using YOUR creative powers to help THEM manifest what they fear." (3) "You can think of this like launching a rocket. Let's call it your "Rocket of Desire". The launching power is feeling excited about having what you want. However, if after you launch your Rocket of Desire you say, "But I am not sure I can do this" or "I am not sure this will work out", you've taken your rocket that was moving with great speed toward your goal and you've cut back the power. The end result is your rocket went from soaring towards your goal to crashing into the ground. That's how your worries and fears push away the things you want. If you unconsciously send up other rockets based on your fears, you're cutting the power you sent to your Rocket of Desire." WOW!!! Just researching his quotes totally just motivated me. I am launching my "Rocket of Desire" full speed ahead! What motivates you???? I welcome all the positive support I can get!!! THANKS! -

PLEASE listen to your body...

A GREAT post. Absolutely, I agree TOTALLY. Something very similar happened to me, at least in the serious potential. It almost cost me my life SEVERAL times, so I can relate to every word of your experience. People, problems with the band can KILL YOU. There have been many comments lately about all of the "negative" posts on this forum....but there is a REASON for the negative posts: People are having problems, very serious problems. On occasion, I see someone here who is experiencing some unusual pain, and they come HERE, to this forum, to ask what the problem might be, when they SHOULD be turning OFF thier computer and high-tailing it into their Surgeons office. Michelle731, I don't give a Rats A** what your surgeon is or isn't doing these days in terms of seeing patients. INSIST on seeing HIM. I had to threaten my surgeon with a lawsuit to get him to see me, but he did. He was NOT nice about it, but he changed his tune and realized that my insistence on seeing him probably saved him from a malpractice/death lawuit. So get on the phone, and tell him if he doesn't see you RIGHT AWAY, the next call you make will be to your lawyer. I've had to play this game before, and Doctors have to realize that they can't simply sew you up, walk away, and hand off the problems to some intern. Nope. Won't happen. THEY put it in you, and THEY are going to treat you when there is a problem. Kslexi, I'm glad you're ok, and thank you for sharing your experience. I'm not opposed to the Lap Band, but there is a growing community of people who are having problems (sometimes life-threatening) with the Band, and they need to be supported in their efforts to get proper treatment from the Surgeon that PUT THE THING IN! -1 pointsI think given the amount of people on this forum who have had a bad experience from the 1-800-GET-THIN centre it may well be that your experience of the band is more due to the doctors and their after care service than the band itself. Reading a lot of the posts here many people do have success with the lap band, but it isnt for everyone, all we can do is give it our best shot. Im sure everyone will sympathise with your story and wish you well in the future.
