    I am a lying liar

stop being ashamed of having gained the weight, or how you lost it, Life is not easy, and Thank God you are healhier and feel good about yourself. It is easier to share with unknowns and maybe you will help some one out! My dental assistant convinced me, of having surgery. I finally met a real person I knew who had it done and was well and happy and not paid to tell me different. No sooner she told me I was on my way to attending seminars etc, and now hopefully Oct I will be done!. I think only some folks will judge ya, but you can always ask--- first in your conversation. Have you ever thought about WLS? and if they are receptive, then you can say, ME too! take it from there--

    LAPBANDERS LIE

I had a Hernia DUG OUT ! , and the Lymph Nodes in the Groin removed (you can bet that was sore!) So 3 things going on! the Hernia was seared shut from being burned with a Hot Rod like a Steak.. Then came the Band. So on the table for over 3 hrs... When I got home I found out the pain meds. were not working for me. I called the surgeon, and he changed it. in a flash. Yes I was sore, and had Gas also, but I got up and walked, and the pain pills were doing there job. This is surgery, and yes you will be sore. (YOU GET A TOOTH PULLED AND IT HURTS !) This does too, but meds make it liveable.and the Healing makes it liveable. I really don't think were lying to anyone ! Anyone with sense knows this has got to hurt......... The Meds, Walking, Heat Pad make it liveable.

    437 lbs Yikes!

I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I started my journey on april 8 , 2010 . I weighed 436 the week before surgery and as of today I weigh 288 so you can lose good with the band. It is work every day, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have slowed down some now on the weight loss but atleast it is still going down. Congradulations on becoming a bander.

    437 lbs Yikes!

Hi Heather!! I began at 393 and my surgeon never had a concern about me losing over 100 pounds with the band. Actually my surgeon is banded and I believe he lost about 100 pounds all though I could never ask. I'd think so from the pictures though. Anyhow, it's all up to you and what you do with the band. I know I was pretty bad at first, especially after I healed from surgery and wanted to eat everything I could get my hands on. I felt like I had to work hard at not eating terribly until I could get my first fill. I did get my first fill in May and it has helped so much with only 3cc in my band. I get my second fill next Wednesday and I'm so looking forward to it. The pain sucks but it's very quick and I'll be honest, the band rocks! It's made such a difference in my life, I've begone eating healthier and it feels natural. I seriously used to be ridiculous with my eating. I'd go to Wendy's or some other fast food daily for lunch and hide the fact. Now I naturally go to the cafeteria and grab a salad or bring something healthy for lunch. I know everyone's different but the band is just wonderful. Congratulations on getting your surgery date and joining us some as a bandster!

Am I the fattest one here?

Hi there. When I had my intial consultation, my BMI exceeded 60 (you can find BMI calculator on the Internet that will calculate your BMI). On the day of surgery my BMI was 58lb thanks to the six months of monitor diet required by insurance and to the pre-surgery diet. I have been banded 10 weeks and have lost 35 pounds. I could have never done it without the band. Yes, I feel restriction. Dreams can come true, but sometimes they take a little courage and a whole lot of work. I wish you well.

    TALKING ABOUT SEX

The mind boggles? Is this question for real? What worries me is that if someone can ask questions like this it would seem that they know very little about the band. I would be doing a lot more research to make sure I understood what the band is and where it goes before having surgery. To answer: The band is inside your body around the top part of your stomach. You cannot feel it once it is there. I cannot by any stretch of the imagination figure out how someone could imagine it could get in the way orally. Even having toured the sex museum in Amsterdam and seen all the strange stuff there I don't know what kind of sex a person would be having for that to happen. Your port you can feel through your skin if you are trying to. It feels like a hard lump. It doesn't interfere with sex at all.
