    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

The beauty of the band, ebeeze, is that it's endlessly adjustable-- not having success in the first year is very disappointing and frustrating, but you can absolutely start anew as you're planning and get it to the point where it is helping you. To me, that's what makes the band amazing. If you had the bypass, if you didn't lose the first year you are definitely not going to all of a sudden lose in year two. But the band can absolutely still work for you. Just don't give up.

Help Me Get Back on the Right Track

An adjustment won't help you make healthy choices. If you can eat 1/2 a sandwich and be full, i don't know if you need a fill. That sounds about right to me. You need to get back in the game. You know what to eat, it's so darn hard at times. I know it is, but you can do it. You have to want to do it, and it sounds like you do. Start fresh, like you just had the band and get back to thinking and eating like you did when you lost that 30 pounds. It's hard, but it is do-able. You did it once. The right choices are a very very big part of this process. Going back in for a check up / fill may still be a good idea. Get in and talk to them, they are there to help and want you to succeed. Don't be ashamed. We all struggle. VERY Best of luck to you! You can do it!!!

The one good thing about us is we know how it feels to be on both sides. I had a man go through my line at work a few weeks ago. We got to talking about good shoes and he told me his sister worked at a place in town that I buy mine at. He said you would not believe the fat people that go in there looking for comfortable shoes and his sister always wants to tell them to lose weight and the shoes would be comfortable. I looked at him and said "Sir I am one of those fat people, I have lost over 100 pounds and we all deserve comfortable shoes" oh and have a good day! He did shut up rater quickly. The next day I went down to the store and talked to the manager, made me feel better.

    Truth or myth...

I am sorry, but this attitude is really concerning to me. I know a lot of people on this site look up to you because of your success and experience, as they should, but this is extreme. Sure, people who don't eat a lot of food aren't fat. . . but they also aren't always healthy or even alive. You are right-- don't eat enough and you will in fact eventually starve to death.

Wow! I can't wait to be able to say that I have lost 80lbs or 100lbs. Im sure I will feel the same when I make it there. I have lost 40lbs and people say that I look great, but really I don't see a big difference. Probably because I have so far to go! That part is frustrating! Good job NY!

It gets so much easier! It only took me two fills to get serious restriction. Congrats on being banded

I'm really sorry you're having such an issue with your band. I won't apologize for calling the band a tool, because that's what it is. It isn't going to work magic, or instantly fix anything. But you already know that. My band is working just exactly like I'd expect any TOOL to work. But like any tool, it needs to be worked properly to do its job. If you're having these outrageous side effects, you need to talk to somebody about adjustments to get it in line. That's why it's called an adjustable gastric band - so it can be tuned up. It will only work as well as it's set up to work. So even though I won't criticize, I do have to say, after four years of suffering as you have, I'd sure as hell be making a lot of noise to my doctor about it. Or I'd find myself another doctor. There is no reason to suffer with having a band, if it's properly adjusted. Good luck! Dave

I have not had the band yet but will be on the 25th from what I have researched and learned here and talking with my doctor it sounds to me the problem sounds like you are too tight.

    What to say....

Your beloved Tigers are going to have to get past the Rays or Sox first. The Yankees will be busy giving the Rangers a thorough thrashing, which lines CC up to counter your beloved Verlander twice as well. Those two games will come down to offense. I like the Yankees chances.
