    Cathartic clothing clean out

This weekend I cleaned out my cupboards and wardrobe. Three bags of fat clothes are now on their way to the op shop. I found heaps of clothes that I have been saving for when I lost weight and now I can wear most of them. I've still got some clothes to shrink into but I can see myself wearing them really soon. it feels as though I have said goodbye to fat me and hello to getting slim me and I love it! Next achievement is to get under 100kg and start wearing that new gold watch I've bought to mark reaching that goal. Just 10kg to go.

Good job! I'm so glad there's not a pat and oscar's in Phoenix any more. I wouldnt be able to pass it up! Everytime my husband and I go to San Diego(pre-band) I always want to go eat at pat and oscar's and have their amazing breadsticks. Love that place... anyway... Haha I'm proud of you!

    Too much soup!

I don't think the bandster police will issue a ticket! lol But creamy soups are sometimes loaded with calories so be careful. I get New England Cleam Chowder from Progress0 (light) and I think it's 299 calories for the entire can-and so yummy! I chicken wing is barely worth a mention! lol Good Luck!! Sounds like you are doing a great job!

This is a fill after fill process ! That's how the band works,,,,,, depending on you, could be 3 or 4 fills before you feel restriction. So,,, if you could get to that filled point in one fill ? would you do it ? Thats called Fluoroscopy . It's like a X-RAY machine for Organs, and the Lapband. They can put you under this machine, and see everything. (you will see it to), then they look for your FILL LINE. Yes ! you have one. They fill you to that line, and your done ! It's that simple..... You have to tell your Dr., that that's what you want to do. No more starving, or Dissapointment. Just straight to the point of feeling success. It was done for me that way, and I have no regrets at all.... This can be done. Insist with your Dr., that, that is what you want. Otherwise you have to be patient, and understand, that it will take quite a few fills before you feel restriction. In the meantime.... I would go to myfitnesspal.com and sign up.. It's free ! It will tell you how many calories a day you should be eating acording to your weight. Calories, Protein, Journal, Exercise, etc. it's all recorded, and it's all there. so it does the work for you. You just enter what you had to eat. I belong to it, a lot of us do. I think it is a true life saver.. It will even tell you how much weight you will lose in 5 weeks if you stay within the numbers, and your numbers are right there. Give it a shot.. It's a good site.

Everything you're going through is perfectly normal. Moving from liquids to mushies or mushies to solids will cause a little bit of gain...also normal. After you get a fill (I hate to tell you) you probably won't feel much, if any, restriction. For most of us it takes about 3. It's a process that we all had to go through. It gets better...it gets easier. Until you get good restriction (and you will) whenever you think you're hungry stop and ask yourself is it my belly or my head that's hungry. Find something to keep yourself (body and brain) occupied for about 20 minutes. If your still hungry it probably was your belly. If you forget to check the clock, it was your head!

    Band Bashers

Well, there's your problem. You went to Obesityhelp.com. They are all about band bashing. Personally, I would NEVER allow myself to be gutted like a fish and my insides rerouted! I have found that band bashers are either A} uneducated about lapband or B} fellow bandsters that didn't follow the plan and thus failed. In either case, their opinion doesn't count!

    "Skinny Bitch"

When I was your age, I was a labor-delivery nurse. I was only 150lbs.{6ft tall}. I think the profession contributed to the weight gain! I discovered on this forum, that many lapbanders are nurses & teachers! Something in our "make-up", too busy taking care of others, often neglecting our own needs.

    Roux-En-Y or Lap Band

I started thinking about bariatric surgery a few months ago, and of course after hearing about, thought that Lap Band was the only way to go (less cutting (of organs), no malnutrition issues, and (bad word here, I know) reversible. I attended a intro session the other night at Northwest Hospital (Northwest Hospital & Medical Center - Bariatric Surgery: Surgical Options) The surgeon seemed to really think it made more sense (for more people) to really consider Roux-En-Y even though most of us favor the Lap-Band. The bottom line was weight loss 70% vs 50% of excess body weight (in favor of Roux-en-y). Not to mention the better effects on diseases. My initial reaction to Roux-En-Y is pretty repulsive (out of fear). It seemed so permanent, and so many hoops to jump through. But his perspective was that this really is a life long change, the more weight you can loose the better. Dumping is a good thing (conditions us to eat properly), and the only issue becomes malabsorption (i.e. taking vitamins). What do you all think? Has anyone else struggled with the choice? Any positive or negative feedback on the Roux-En-Y? (I know this is supposed to be lap band only Thanks.
