    July 2011 Bandsters!

Hi everyone! I want to share a wonderful NSV that I had today. I wore my size 14 cami and large size long black skirt to my friend's pool party. It looked good! it did not require modification to put on or zip (it zips on side, fitted through abdomen)! I'm so excited! I tried it on a month ago and couldn't pull it over my breasts! Now, I just got a new outfit without spending a dime! I swear, going to my closet is like going to the mall where I already own it. I got my size medium BDU pants buttoned, but they are still too tight to wear - have major muffin top issues and no room to tuck in shirt. And they definitely did not pass the squat test. :-( but give it a few more weeks, and it will! :-) share some nsvs!

    Keeping Lap Band a Secret

I started with telling my siblings and parents. My mom seemed to think that all her relatives should know as it was a surgery, so I let her tell all my aunts and uncles. I wish I would have held her off a bit as some of my uncles seem to think the weight loss will be magic and I will be super skinny the next time they see me.i know it doesn't work that way, but it is exhausting explaining to everyone how it works. In the long run it doesn't matter as they love me no matter what size I am, and I don't see them that often. I also told the people I'm closest to at work. They have all been very supportive. When people start noticing the weight loss I plan on telling them that I excercise, eat carefully and about the band. It is likely that many of them know already as word gets around pretty fast. Some will understand that the band is a tool, but I still have to work hard and some will think I took the easy way out. Oh well, I know I am doing this for my health and my mobility and I'm happy with my decision.

    What am I doing wrong??

2 weeks post-op, I would not get too worried. I had to learn that the real process does not begin till after 4-6 weeks post-op. It took me 3 fills before I could say the band started doing what I expected it to do all along. Everyone is different. Do not compare (and compete) with other people. Another reason I keep the surgery to myself, and make it my own personal program.

    Fastest Lap Band Weight Loss?

I dont know if mine counts or not, but I am down 126lbs in 16 months, plus I had a baby 4 months ago. You cant really count those 9 months, can you? And yep I got preg 4 months after being banded. So in 7 months I lost 126lbs, plus 30lbs of baby weight.
