My doctor said if you eat until you feel restriction, you are stretching your pouch and making your band useless. He said to measure your portions (1/2 cup Protein, 1/4 cup veggies, 1/4 cup carb) and eat that and only that. Then 30 minutes later, drink a quart of Water. I had my surgery January 10th, and lost almost 50 pounds with an empty band. My doctor said as long as I am losing there is no need for a fill. He does fills only if the patient has gained or hasn't lost anything for a couple of months. Also, keep in mind that this is a slow process. You're not supposed to be at your goal weight immediately. My doctor said losing more than 2 pounds per week is dangerous and unhealthy.

    My first Post-Op posting

Thank you Mandilou- I'm sure you're right! After awhile of having the band, I can re-evaluate. I'm doing everything else to a T, so why risk that slippery slope. And yes, it WILL work if you work it. There's a slogan I'm quite familiar with! I am having the most difficult time on this website, and I consider my self quite computer savvy! haha

You can also try mixing the powder with applesauce, pudding or yogurt.

Ditto with the "satisfied" feeling. If I eat until I feel full (what I have always called full) then I have over eaten and will feel horrible later. From the beginning, I have weighed and measured my food (if I'm at a restaurant I portion it out by eye) and just eat that amount...when I'm finished I am no longer hungry - that is my new "full"

    SOFT FOOD IDEAS....

Canned chicken is way moister (though it does smell like canned tuna, which is ewwww!). I got Tyson brand all-white chunk. I made a pretty good crustless quiche by combining egg with cheese and a small scoop of artichoke dip, baked in a ramekin dish at 350 until it puffed up (I honestly can't remember how long). Chili was one of my faves (blended of course), but you said no Beans so that probably won't work for you. I bet there are "savory souffle" recipes out there that would work.

    Negativity Stinks

I find this post to be pretty negative in itself. Not everyone is able or ready to take responsibility for their actions as maybe you have been. People come here for support. If no one was struggling then this site probably wouldn't exist! Since you are having success and seem to be handling the dietary and behavior changes well, why not spread the wealth by helping others rather than chastising those that are struggling? I'm not struggling myself and because I'm doing ok, I try to help others who aren't so that when I need support it will return to me. It's rewarding. Why not take that approach?
