Funny things is, I came onto this site tonight because I was dealing with the exact same problem! I was banded on May 18th - I did no diet prior to surgery and have lost a grand total of 41 lbs. However, every 10 lbs I keep stalling. I work out every night for at least an hour (and I really mean work out!) I had been losing quickly before and then once I started going to the gym, my weight loss decreased. It seems to take me forever to get to the next pound lost. I especially stalled at the 285 mark, now I'm finally at 275 but I keep going up and down....then again, I weigh myself every morning. I'm thinking about just having my roomies hide the scale so I don't do that anymore. All I can say is that the scale WILL go down. Believe it or not. I didn't think it would go down once I got to 285...but now I'm 10 lbs lighter. I know that this may not help, but I'm right there with you. It's frusterating...but we'll do this...together!!!!

    Dr. Oz

Don't hold too much weight in Dr. Oz. He's a tv personality first and a doctor second. He has a dermatologist frequent his show and write blogs on his site who is nothing more than a rich ex-practicing doctor who does not see any patients and only keeps the medical license to make her expensive cosmeceuticals. I saw that episode and thought it was either very irresponsible for him to present those women as the norm, or it was truly him intentionally pushing his negative opinion of WLS by showing an unrealistic and unhealthy extreme.

    Nutri System Diet

Claudia, you should not be embarrassed. We all suffer from this "over-eating" disease. You are among friends.

You are where many, many other have been. Maybe put away your scale for a couple of weeks and just concentrate on learning all your new eating habits?

    My success story w pic

I was banded Dec 17, 2009 and lost 26lbs on my 2 week pre-op diet. Surgery was smooth sailing and I was heading home only 4 hours later. It was a 3 hour drive. My recovery time went great and was back up and moving around in no time. Quickly started getting fills and losing weight. I also hit the gym and joined our Y's biggest loser competition to get the competitor in me going. By the time the competition was over in April, I was now down a total of 83lbs and pregnant...with twins! I was a little depressed with the thought of my weight going back up, but embrassed it. My band was loosened in July and in August we found out we had lost one of our twins at 20 weeks due to complications. I had our band baby Dec 16, 2010, just one day shy of my one year band anniversary. I gained 30lbs during my pregnancy. My son is now 4 months old and I have lost all my pregnancy weight plus a little over 40lbs. I hit the gym 4/5 times a week and I also joined our Y's biggest loser competition again this year to get my motivation going again. I am now 16 months out of surgery, had to take a baby break for 9 months, but am happy to say that I am down 126lbs! That is only 5lbs away from my goal and 15lbs away from my drs goal. I go next week for plastic surgery consultation to have a tummy tuck. After being over weight for a long time, plus having 3 boys all over 9lbs, has put a number on the excess skin I have. This was me on the say of surgery (actually a little embarassed to even post..but here goes) Here I was just this past Friday. I went from wearing a 3x and size 28 jeans to now wearing a Large and size 14 jeans.

thanks for the kudos guys...and in answer to the question do I still keep in touch with my surgeon the answer is yes. I go to see him about once every 6 months- he still checks my vitamin levels and I can still have a fill if I like(I had one about 6 months ago). I also volunteer and do testimonials at his seminars and am very active in our LAP-BAND® support group and our entire support group network- we have regular events in addition to our monthly meetings. I still wake up every day extremely grateful for living in this era of wonderful innovations like the LAP-BAND® which allow me to live a normal healthy life.
