RobinJ 0 Posted September 12, 2010 Gorda123, It took about 9 or 10 months to get there and believe me I was so frustrated. I would drive two hours to the clinic and wait around for hours (they do all the fills at the end of the day) and get so frustrated with the little amount they would give me. I was not losing any weight and was drinking heavily at that time. Finally they got tired of me coming in and complaining and the technician gave me 2CC's at one time which put me at 6 CC in a 10 CC band. I was so scared to go home because I thought it was too much and I would not be able to eat, but luckily it was just right and with exercise I was on my way to losing weight. At first I could not eat anything dry...I would PB about once a day. The funny thing is I never slimed like the other bandsters talk about, the stuck food would immediately be dispelled in no more than two minutes. The band really helped me to limit my food intake and I would walk everyday at lunch. I am not at my sweet spot anymore and debate about going back for a small fill but I am still losing with exercise so I am okay. What I did not do was focus on eating protein first like I was told and realized that my hair was thinning really bad. So now I focus on protein, protein, protein. It will happen so try not to get frustrated...I thought my journey would take about six months but it took 14 so hang in there. Share this comment Link to comment
chocolatecity 1 Posted September 26, 2010 Gorda if your 40 then you really are fab...I never would have placed that age on you. Thank you for being so candid about your struggle. I am in the process of the 6 months evaluations. I have slowly gained each time. I think I am so focused on losing weight, I eat without thinking. I want to loose weight now and I visit this site 2-3 times a week as a reminder that I can do this and that it is not impossible. So when I come across the amazing photos and inspirational stories and struggles, it really keeps me going. Thank you for posting and keeping us that are still waiting to be blessed, inspired. RobinJ 0 Posted October 17, 2010 Chocolatecity, thank you for those kind words and good luck on your surgery. I pray that you can lose weight during the evaluation stage because the surgery will be easier and reduce the chances of having the dreaded "fatty liver" problem I hear horror stories about. Just take one day at a time. If losing weight was easy, none of us would have the band. This site is great for information and support and you'll find that someone has gone through every possible situation that will arise during your journey. I'm sure you will do just fine. Take Care!
