MY SURGERY IS JUNE 2...BASICALLY 3 DAYS IM SO SCARED I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO..... IM THINKING OF ALL THE THINGS THAT CAN GO WRONG!!! BUT I KNOW THAT I NEED THIS..ALL OF MY FAMILY KEEPS ASKING IF IM SCARED OF COURSE I DENY IT ...BUT IM SCARED OUT OF MY MIND:eek: I JUST NEEDED TO GET THAT OFF MY CHEST U ALL HAVE BEEN SO HELPFUL I KNOW THAT I CAN SPEAK MY MIND HERE WITHOUT BEING JUDGED!!! BUT IM REALLY NERVOUS...I NEED THIS BUT I JUST CANT HELP BUT THINKING AM I REALLY DOING THE RIGHT THING??? PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME

Hi I had my band placed yesterday, and it was easier than I expected, I was wheeled in to surgery at 9:30 and was out and talking to them in recovery by 10:50, I am sore but it is managable, for me I had to do this, I am too young to be cripple and my arthritis is ugly and heading that way if I can lose this weight once and for all. Have you ever had any kind of surgery before, that seems to be the hardest if you have not but this was a pretty easy surgery. Good luck.

hi i was banded May 1st and i'm 60 years old. it is the best decision i've ever made. I have lost 30 lbs and can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I have 100 more lbs to go but it's working. something would be wrong with you if you weren't scared. it is an easy operation, and you will be so happy you did it. good luck to you!

Hello. I just had my band placed on May 27th and I felt the same way you did. I tried to be brave in front of my family and friends but deep down inside I was scared something would go wrong during the surgery. I went through every little detail in my mind of the things that could go wrong...Well, thankfully everything went just fine. The worst problem I had was the gas pains after surgery and the best relief for this is getting up and walking around to move the air out. I am still a little sore (especially where the port is placed) but for the most part I am up and moving around the house. Good Luck with your surgery and I hope everything goes well for you. You're NORMAL! I've been through an even bigger surgery and I was still scared (and excited)! It's all so worth it! If you're feeling really scared the day of, ask the nurses right away if they can give you something to help 'take the edge off'...many here have done that...just a little med to help you stay calm. The team knows everyone is nervous and they'll be great at helping you through it. -BG

I felt the same way, my surgery is coming up soon and I expressed some concerns to my mom. She told me, "It;s just another day at the office" for them (the surgeons). It really made me feel better. I think sometimes we think of the worst and afraid of the unknown, but that statement really calmed me down and I am not as nervous anymore. Also like the person above me said I think the doctors will provide you something to calm down prior to surgery.
