Second Guessing Myself

Tomorrow is my consultation appointment with Dr. Vollinger here in Charlotte, NC. I am not sure about this...I have been overweight my entire life and I am ready for a change. I have tried everything but have not had long term results. I am so scared and unsure of myself now that I have told a few friends and they are against it. I know ultimately this is my decision and I am doing it for ME not them! But I can't help but ask myself am I just being too lazy? I don't think so! I am going to the appointment with an open mind. I have questions about the costs of tightening and follow up appointments. Luckily my insurance covers this procedure however, I don't want to be blind sided by office appointments that are costly long term. Well, only time will tell!:)

Good Luck to you. And yes this is a decision only you can make and only you know what is right for you. I kindof had some doubts before surgery myself. I was on this website daily reading and reading. This website holds more information than any seminar could possibly teach. And then I went for it and had the surgery and couldn't be happier. I love my band!!

You will make the right choice.

Good luck!! I think we all at one time have second guess ourselves. This is a choice that is yours and yours alone, but the support of others is key!! This site is helpful too because you can talk with others going through the same thing. I understand asking ourselves about...'am i just being lazy?' However, it is just not true. We have tried everything in the book and consistently hit some kind of road block....we know what to do, we know how to exercise but there is just always a stumbling block. The surgeon that did the seminar i went to and the nurse practitioner said some things that really helped me....."society has conditioned us to think of food as rewards, society has conditioned us to think that it is just as simple as eating the right pre packaged food......however, sometimes it is not that simple." they also said that obesity is a disease....for some reason that reasonated with me...it made me think of it in a whole different way. I am rambling....but I do wish you the best. I have my first nutritionist appt. tomorrow. -as for the fills and follow up appts. insurance should cover those too....just might be a co-pay. talk to you again soon!!!!

Gosh, Diva101908 took the words right out of my mouth. I am meeting with the surgeon tomorrow and will most likely have surgery in July, but I too have been second guessing myself, wondering why I am a failure at losing weight and if I am lazy for wanting to have a lap-band. I take comfort from my daughters who do support me and want their mother around a long time. Thanks to those who answered Diva. Your words have encouraged me and made me remember why I started this journey to begin with. There are no magic bullets when it comes to weight loss and it will still take work on my part to make the lap-band work, but I do believe it will be the most powerful tool yet that will make me more accountable and help me stay on track. I am looking forward to a healthier me. Good luck to you Diva. Stick to your guns!
