I'm in a wow,, I was able to eat a ham crossiant this morning (a whole one) without any problems, I'm 5 1/2 weeks with the band, and I was told when I went to the dr's on May 11th that I was doing fine, on that day I was still restricted to eating, but since then 2 weeks later I've realized I can eat a little more, the dr told me on that day that I didn't have any filling in my band, and that on June 11th I would get my first fill. I called the dr's office today and told them I think I need to come before June 11th because I was able to eat a whole sandwhich  The seceratary told me she would give me a call but I haven't heard back from her yet. Hopefully she will call me back on tomorrow. I'm not sure if anyone band has been empty like mine. But I'm stressing.. Any advice would be helpful.. Thanks in advance.

Many of us have 0 fills when our bands are put in (like me). It's just the Drs. preference and mine says even a little fill at banding is too much for some and that some people have enough restriction with an open band and never need a fill. I've had no restriction since my third week (banded 4/22) and I don't get my first fill until 6/2. This is called 'Bandster Hell' waiting to get enough fills to get the restriction back again and most go through it. I just wanted you to know you're not alone. The reason docs don't want to rush the fills is that your body is still healing at this point and that should be your focus...the fills will come soon...patience is hard...trust me, I'm frustrated too! -BG

You are not alone. I get my 1st fill on 6/3 surgery was 4/20. I can eat almost anything but I do get full much earlier than I use to. Although I am down 21 lbs. i feel I need the fill to get me on my way. I know this period is for healing, but I am anxious. All in due time, one day at a time. Hang in there - we will survive

Yeah I agree with the other two ladies I wont have my first fill until about 4 months out but thats because of my job. I was banded in Feb but it wasnt until about two or three weeks that I have been able to eat more food so now I'm really watching what I eat. Try to drink water when you feel hungry so it knocks some of the edge off until you get a fill it really does help. Good luck and keep believing.

BG is right...It's Bandster Hell. Keep your focus on the goal. The band is just a tool. We still have to do the work. It's so difficult at times. You might want to try water loading...drinking 4 ounces of water 35-40 minutes before you eat. It fills your pouch so you don't eat as much. My NP made that suggestion for me. It works. It was 6 weeks after my surgery before I had my first fill, and I still don't fill much restriction. My second fill is 6/10. I am hopeful that this one will do wonders. Keep the exercise up...walk, walk, walk... Best of luck!
