I am now at almost 5 weeks post surgery and have lost 21lbs so far, however for the last 2 weeks, I have not lost anything at all. My weight is now holding at 185lbs. I'm grateful for the 20lbs, but I have 50 to go. I am still supplementing my daily diet with protein shakes (usually 2) for the extra protein. I eat 3 "meals" per day of either chicken or fish measured out into a 1/2 cup serving. I walk every day of the week, 1 mile at work during the day and 2 miles when I get home 3-4 days a week. On the weekends I'm walking as well. So even with the added exercise, my weight has not shifted or gone down. I thought, maybe I need a fill? But then, I already eat so little....the plus side is that they have cut my blood pressure medication to half of my previous dosage and I'm off my insulin shots. I still have to take liquid oral meds for the diabetes but to be off the shots is SUCH a blessing. I have not "cheated" or eaten anything I am not supposed to, I time my liquid intake strictly before and after meals in addition to not drinking at all while eating. So my question is, what do I need to do to lose weight???? :) I'd appreciate some advice.

how many calories are you getting a day?

The scale wasn't moving much for me and I had a day that i ate more than i had been and guess what? the next morning, the scale MOVED (and it wasn't UP!)!

if you don't eat enough, you will stall.

if you have a low calorie day, up them the next day. I know WW's used to have a program that you banked unused points each week. At the end of the week, you could used your banked points for a treat, or a higher points (calorie) day. It would be kinda the same idea. you don't want your body to think you are starving it, or it WILL hold on to every pound!!

good luck!

well congrats on the 20 lbs! One thing to remember is, you're only 5 weeks post op! Your body has some changes to become accustom to for one thing. Also, you might want to count your calorie intake as well as your protein intake - maybe increase protein but decrease or maintain calories.

I think it sounds like you are doing great and should just stay off the scale for a while! But on suggestion is that the shakes arent really a supplement but a replacement for some part of a meal you leave out. Also eat more 'free' food like veggies so your body doesnt think youre starving...good luck, I really think youre doing fine! Cali
