This is my day 7 and I'm still sore. My stitches r so itchy and I'm starving. I have moved on to soft foods(couldn't wait), but I have zero resistance so I'm always hungry. I'm also so gas-sy although that helps me not want to eat. I'm not usually the complainer, but I read others who r doing so well and I'm beginning to wonder if somthing is wrong with me.

I'm a week out too but I'm no longer sore. I do, however, still get just as hungry & have the gas problem too. I'm so hoping my first fill will cure some of this.

I'm a week out with the same issues, the thing that help me with the gas is the gas-x and deep breathing, I would have never thought breathing while all i want to do is eat could get me through it helped. Also I just had my first BM after 7 days(don't me to be gross) but that was also a help with the gas....please stay strong...I hear this too shall pass.

There is nothing wrong with you! Each person's body handles surgery/lifestyle changes differently.

What may seem to have been a breeze for one person, may be difficult for others. Each person's tolerance for pain is vastly different as is each person's reponse to a surgical procedure.

Soooo, don't beat yourself up over this - and if all else fails...CALL YOUR DOCTOR'S OFFICE - that is what they are there for. There are no stupid questions that you could ask them....just those that remain un-asked!! I assure you - they have heard it all!!

Most docs apply the band totally unfilled - and for most, the physical presence of the band does afford some restriction...but for others it may not. Everyone and their situation is UNIQUE!!

The biggest thing I can stress is to follow the instructions given to you by the surgeon's office and/or your dietician. I hole punched my sheets each time I got them and put them into a report folder. I referred to them very often for guidance and when I wasn't sure about something. If I couldn't find my issue there - I either called the office or asked the next time I was seen.

Another good source of information is your local weightloss surgery support group. I try not to miss a meeting and in the beginning was there to learn and ask questions....now four months out, I find that I can actually offer some insight as I've gone through it and have some "experience" with some of the issues that a pre-op or a newly banded person may have.

We ALL want to go to sleep and wake up to find that ALL the weight is gone - but that isn't happening!! It didn't all go on overnight -so it isn't coming off overnight either!!

Good Luck - and take one day at a time!

I was the same way about my band. Had it put in on a Fri and was determined that I was going back to work the following Thurs and Fri. Keep in mind I am a pharmacist and work 12 hour shifts on my feet!! Will to make a long story short - it did not happen. They were lucky I came back the next Monday and sat on a stool for a week and had everything brought to me. Also the diet afterwards SUCKS. I was starving, and I still can not eat or think about jello. I moved up my weekly diet quicky too, my body let me know if something was not right. I was very lucky - never had a gas pain, not one time - sorry. Not to burst your bubble, but didnt fill a thing after my first fill - like nothing had happen. It was very disappointing. had a 2nd fill and can fill the restriction!! It will get better I promise!!
