I got my Realize band on Jan. 6 and got my first fill of 4ccs on Friday 3rd of April. I had been binging and felt no need to throw up or otherwise feel miserable, so as to "learn my lesson" not to do such this. I wanted so much to feel sick so as to stop myself from doing this again. I was depressed and my surgeon could only ask me if I was "excercising"--he wasn't too happy with my depression. But to me, I was just back to my old habits, and very very scared that nothing would ever help me. I got the fill and thought I would do better...suprise! I can binge and I only get a small tummy ache--and a large case of obesity guilt. Does anyone know if the "new stomach" one gets which is supposed to be the size of a golfball, could actually burst from overeating? Has anyone else been binging with a lap band? How did you get over it?????

Burst your stomach?....well I've never heard of that, but you could stretch your pouch and you don't want to do this. First let me say that you can do this. It is tough love that I am about to give you but it is given out of love.....

Who told you that you would not be able to binge with the band? I can eat anything I want. Is this how you understood the band helps you lose weight? Well now you know that you are wrong. It may work that way for some, but the band helps you by reminding you to take small bites and taking the edge off of your hunger. Still getting cravings? I may be wrong, but I would put money on the fact that you are still eating bread, pasta, rice and potatoes. Those cause cravings. It is a proven fact. I can explain the whole blood sugar level part of that but sufice it to say these foods, although at first the hardest to give up, once out of your system are not missed as much as you think they will be.

Are you drinking with meals or are you staying dry for AT LEAST 30 minutes before AND after? Are you eating your solid protein first and then adding veggies? Are you eating slow.

Why would you want to binge after getting the band? I am self pay and I can't imagine taking this wonderful TOOL that I am making monthly payments on and ruin it. The band is just a tool. It won't do everything for you. You can buy a brand new car, but if you don't learn how to drive you'll never get anywhere. Would you sit in a new car and say, "OK, take me to the store." and then ask why you aren't getting anywhere? You have to USE the car to get where you want to go.

You can read "What My Band Does For ME", "How to LapBand" and "My Guidelines" by touching on these links. This will include the best advice I could give in my almost 6 months in Bandlandia.

I have dropped 90 lbs and if I can do it you can too!

Consider yourself hugged :grouphug:and then decide to change your habits. If you are depressed then you have to address that. Maybe not with your band doctor. Call your family doctor right now and make the first step to being as successful as I KNOW you can be!

Sounds as though you're still on the same old merry go round...I want it; I eat it...I see it; I eat it...they say I can't;watch me do it. If that's the choice, then that's the choice, but you're missing a remarkable journey not abidig by the game rules. Improved health; more energy and all...why wouldn't you want that instead the same 'ol food that put ya there? Not said with malice , just thinking outloud.

You indicated that you have dropped 90 lbs. When did you get banded and what is the average monthly weight loss?

I was banded on October 29th and I average about 2-3 lbs a week now. I lose at least 10 lbs per month. Things are starting to slow now a little.

YOU! You are the only one who can change YOU! It takes will power, anger, prayer and faith that you can change you. I decided to become debt free about 5 years ago. I went through the Financial Peace class and it didn't do a darned bit of good. We later spent more money on crap and stuff and later, fell into more debt than we could ever expect. We had the tool right there in our hands and it did nothing to help us. Did we not listen? Nope, we werent low enough in our own funk to get mad enough about our situation to change our lives. (What does this have to do with food? Everything!!) Anyhow, Dave Ramsey talks about how you must become angry with your situation and the crap that you put yourself into to get to this point in your life. You have to become angry about your habits that get you into trouble and you will never change your habits until you become enraged and want and need to change. Only then will you be willing to make changes, use tools offered to you and stick with it. Whether it is money or food, it is all the same! You must become angry enough to never want to throw food into your belly that you are going to regret later. And no matter how many times someone offers you the tools to change, it won't mean a damn thing until you want to use them. This lap band won't help at all until you become mad enough to use it right.

Make the decision, get mad about it, it is up to you. I finally got mad enough when I realized that I would not get to run with my grand children or feel sexy in front of my husband.
