If you havent already, put mexico in the search box and see what you get in the threads. I have done that with my Doctor's name and gotten to see what people have said about him...its a very useful way to get lots of people's opinions. Good luck! Cali

I traveled to Juarez for my surgery. Dr. Rodriguez performed the surgery. The worst part of the experience was the flight to and from. While I was flying down to Texas, I was sooooo nervous. While I was flying back I was unable to get comfortable. All in all the experience of going there and getting banded was wonderful. My husband went with, I would highly recommend having a friend or spouse go with. I was gonna go on my own and decided against it. When we finally got to the hospital it was spotless. There are tons of people on this forum who have negative things to say about going to Mexico, honestly, I had no issues whatsoever. The surgery was painless, they only put two incisions in me. The recovery was easy, honestly I only used two of my pain pills they perscribed me on the way home. I can understand if you are nervous but I had a wonderful experience. If you need particulars about my doctor and the trip, just respond back to me and I'll help you out.

I had my lap band done in Tijuana Mexico on 2/23/09. It has been very successful. Starting weight 390 and 6 weeks later, I have lost 45 lbs. My surgeon was Dr. Almanza. He and the other clinic personnel were awesome. The Dr. that owns the clinic is great and they take care of you throughout. I can't say enough about them. We had 10 of us patients go one day and all of the surgeries went through great without any problems. Some people experience more pain than others, but over all it isn't anything you can't handle. this is a step in the right direction, but my biggest advice to you is? Do what the Doctor tells ya! It makes a difference in the end product! Go to: www.mexicoweightlosssurgery.com.

It only cost me $5000 out the door!

E-mail me anytime with any questions.

I had my surgery in Monterey Mexico with Dr Rumbaut, He is one of the doctors that developed the surgical technique for the Lapband in the beginning and was part of the Lapband trials prior to the FDA trials in the US. He was such an amazing man, I traveled there early on Monday, had a pre-appointment (blood work and such) also on Monday later in the day, and then went to visit Dr. Rumbaut. I had the surgery the next day, in a somewhat small but BRAND NEW, GORGUS hospital, it was the Christus Muguerza hospital and the nurses were amazing and spoke English which was a plus. I paid $7900 for everything (the surgery, transportation, and hotel). But nothing puts a price on how safe you feel, I personally know a lot of people that had it done with him all with fabulous results and he has a lot of contacts here in the US that will do your fills. Most doctors in the US will not touch another doctor’s work, but he has a lot of colleges that know him and trust him, that shows a lot about his character. I can’t say enough about him, but be prepared to get some looks when you say “I’m having a surgery in Mexico” most people don’t get it, but when you know people that have great experiences there, it shouldn’t matter.

If you want more info on him you can either email or call Cathy Pickren, she is in his US office, cathy@gastricband.com or 1-888-456-1211.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

I am 230lbs. 5'7. I have been struggling with this weight loss battle for 10 long years. I've spent so much money, time and effort to loss 20-30lbs. just to gain all the weight back in 30 days or so. I was recently denied by my insurance carrier at the beginning of Feb. I went into a major depression until I researched surgeries in Mexico. My family and friends think I've lost my mind. I have no support and my husband is totally against my decision. But I know that I have to do this for myself to end this cycle of depression and food addiction. Any encouragement would be great...Thanks:smile:
