Hi all, have been reading your blogs for over a onth now, im 4 days into my pre op milkshake diet, soooo hungry though. im eating veg and salad and 1 piece of chicken or fish a day. finding it hard as i can only have 1 piece of fruit a day also and i hate the milkshakes that were provided. only 11 days to go until my operation and very very scared. The main reason is that i have never been put to sleep before and scared i wont wake up or their will be complications????

Does anyone know if my hunger pains will dissappear soon???

I'm on day 5 of my diet. I can't have salad or meat, only the liquid diet and 5 carrots 5 celery sticks and 5 radishes a day. I make soup with the broth carrots, celery and fresh parsley. It helps a little. The 1st couple of days were horrible but it is better.

I feel the same about anesthesia. I am very scared. I'm a nursing student and I have learned about all the things that can go wrong. I just keep telling myself that it is all in God's hands and that if I wasn't suppose to have surgery it wouldn't happen.

Well good luck and I hope our hunger pains go away soon. Just stick with it, you can do it!

I start my liquid diet tomorrow. Kinda dreading it and kinda ready cause it's really the "official" countdown to surgery!!! I'm so ready to get the surgery over with. I've been put to sleep 3 times for previous surgeries. There are risks with anything....but with my previous surgeries, I was asleep and awake before I knew it. Felt like I'd only been asleep for a few minutes. I remember after my gallbladder surgery, they were waking me up in recovery, and I didn't even think that they had done the surgery yet...didn't realize I had been asleep for a while. You'll be fine. Don't worry... in a couple months, we'll be so glad we did this and we'll be well on our way to our new lives!!!!

For my own 2cents. Go find yourself a protein shake you like. There are TONS of them out there. After trying quite a few I found Unjury. It is only sold on line. Comes in Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, chicken soup and unflavored. I liked the Choco,Van, & unflavored (which I added to soups, juices, coffee, pudding,yogurt- just about anything).

This journey will take you through many changes. One will be your relationship with food.

Try to remember to enjoy your food not punish yourself with a meal. Food will become less important. Really. It's weird how that happens, but it does. You will learn to eat mindfully.

I know you just asked if the hunger pains will stop, I got a little carried away.

Good luck with your journey, Amanda
