Hello Fellow Bandsters... Hope everyone is enjoying the first day of Spring! Personally I woke up to snow flurries :sneaky:. Well we can't have it all.

Just wanted to talk about my current battle. I am having a hard time getting more that 800 calories a day... I am just not hungry. I eat becasue I know I have to. I am also torn between drinking or eating. I love water, I love my dandelion tea, i love my Nectar Protein, i love my iced decaf americanos... but I always would rather drink than eat.

Anyone else who is like this?? It is extreamly frustrating!!

Keep up the great work all! It keeps getting better!! :w00t:

Wow! I haven't been banded yet...date is April 8th... but I can't imagine having to make myself eat... it's gotta be frustrating though... cause you need your vitamins and your proteins. My best friend was banded 3 years ago and she had the same problem. She would go and get a milkshake and drink it because she needed the calories and she lost 150+ pounds the first year... really too fast for her but that's just the way the band effected her. I don't have any "words of wisdom"... but I'm sure some post op people will be on here to give you some good advice! Take care and keep on trying to get enough of what you need in to keep you healthly!!!

I'm pre-band also, so I'm no expert, but I've seen several here on LBT who have caused themselves complications by being to tight (erosion, slippage, etc., but they were eating). My docs philosophy/nutritionist is that I shouldn't ever need to 'drink protein' (they don't want me to be drinking any protein after the initial healing period, and even then I'm to try and get it all if I can from food) as that defeats the purpose of the band and you're basically putting yourself on a long-term liquid protein diet, which is never healthy. I'm guessing your saying you CAN eat, but are chosing to drink instead? I'd also say that if you start eating again then you'll start to crave food more. My sister was on a liquid protein diet once (short-term to lose weight) and after awhile she wasn't hungry either. Try getting back to the band rules of eating protein first and see what happens after awhile. I'd also recommend you talk to your doc about this. If you can't even get in 800 cals. it's not healthy long term and your body can go into 'starvation mode'. Good luck to you! -BG

I think I understand what you're saying...we can't drink while eating, and my doctor doesn't want me to drink 45 minutes before a meal and not until 30 minutes after a meal...so that timing can sometimes be difficult. There have been times when I have chosen to drink my favorite protein water instead of eating.

Thats it. Pre-band I would always have something to drink with me all the time. My Dr. says no drinkning 30 minute before, during and after eating. I just love my water and my tea too much. My Nutrionist also said that I should be getting 60-80 grams of protein a day and the only way a banded person can do that is with protein supplements since 4oz of chicken has about 13 grams.

I am dealing with it but I just love my iced decaf esspressos and my decaf ice tea.

Thanks for all the responses... who knew blogging couldbe this much fun!!

Keep it up all!!
