My Journey
Lets see. I've never blogged before about anything but there's always a first.
I'll start with the story of how I got fat. When I was a child we lived in the city and I had a bunch of friends I was always active, always outside playing with my friends. I also had to walk to school every day. I was thin.
Then when I was 8 years old we moved out to the country. Well back then (24 years ago) it was still country). I didn't have any friends. It was hard for me to meet new people as i was very shy. I also didn't get outside to play as much. Since we lived so far out I didn't walk to school anymore. That's when I began to gain a bit of weight. I was about 10 to 20 pounds overweight from that time out.
Fast forward to high school. In high school I weighed 150 lbs but felt so much fatter than the other girls. Even though I really wasn't. Because of this I became depressed. I spent my teenage years hiding away in my room sleeping every afternoon after school and not doing anything about the additional 20 lbs or so I was carrying. I did try to lose some weight but back then it was if you needed to lose weight you starved yourself. So I only ate once a day. Obviously not healthy at all.
After high school I probably gained about 20 lbs a year. By the time I was 20 I weighed over 200 pounds. This is when I began to diet. I did dexatrim, doctors diets, I joined a program called Form You 3 which didn't work at all and I even went as far as to go on phen phen. Yea very dangerous and stupid of me!
When I was 25 I weighed 270 pounds and still I did nothing about my weight even though my best friend was getting married and I had to stuff myself into a dress.
At age 27 I finally decided to do something about my weight. I went to the doctor and went on phenmenterphine which is a diet pill. It worked and I lose 20 some lbs only to go off it 4 months later and regain the weight and then some 3 years later. That's when I did weight watchers. Again, same result. Only this time my weight ballooned to 290.
This past summer I decided it was time to focus on me, get myself healthy.
So this past January I got banded and have followed the rules and so far so good. I've lost 33 pounds and feel awesome about myself. I'm looking forward to my journey!
