:frown:I'm struggling with the soft food diet. I am eating way too much food. I can easily eat over a cup of food and don't feel the restrictions as I did last week. My weight loss has actually stopped and I gained 2 pounds. It's been only 15 days since my operation.

I got banded on 8/21 and I kind of feel the way you do. I do not eat as much as I did before banding but when I read about some ppl staying on just liquids for two wks and just soft foods for 3 wks I am like huh?? As long as I chew well I can eat just about anything (I had a cheeseburger last weekend). If I eat too much I do get VERY burpy. A girl from my docs office said that the concern is that I will slip my band and that has not happened (she said it would be EXTREMELY uncomfortable if it did). Anyhoo, I lost 5 lbs after one week and I have not weighed this week. It said the lap-band is not really working until you get your 1st fill.

I disagree that the band is not working until the first fill. You might not feel restriction until you have a fill or three but the band is in place and you will have problems if you over eat or under chew.

Did your Dr/nutritionist give you a food plan? You need to stick with it.

Your stomach is losing the swellig it had after the surgery so yes you do have less restriction.

Protein is the key to feeling full longer. You have to get your protein in first at meals and get 60g or more a day.

You are going through bandster hell. It is hell for a reason. cravings, scale jumps, maybe even a little depression.

Just stick with it. Now is a good time to start your exercise program.

Good luck on your journey.

I got banded on 8-4 and yes you have less and less restriction as time goes by. I have one my week before my fill, my advice to you is eat a lot of low calorie food and get some activity. For me i was making my own low calorie soup and food soft food. i say stay away from sugar soft food like apple sauce. If you want some sugar go for sugar free or spanda. Please try to remember why you did the band in the first place. for me it was very hard to first month and the truth is it will be hard for a long time because it took a long time to learn those bad habits that got me where i am today. My advice to you is start making a plan when it comes to eating and getting some activity.

Thanks for the pep talk. Today I just got out of the house and visited some big department stores. I didn't buy anything, just walked and walked. I really feel this is like hell, and hope it will pass. My doctor did give me a meal plan which I'm sticking too. Low fat cottage cheese, stoffers spinach souffle, lots of water. It's just hard to get those protein drinks down.
