Okay, I went and ate waaay too much today. Now my stomache really hurts. Again. I know I have to get a grip, and soon. But I've had a real hard time finding an answer to this question. If I have stretched my pouch out, is it possible to "shrink" it or get it to go back to it's original size? If so, please, somebody tell me what to do and for how long. I haven't done that 5 day pouch test. I've heard mixed results about it. But I am really hurting and worried that I really went too far this time. So somebody let me know if you have any info on this. Thanks!

Everyone has stretched their stomach, banded or unbanded. It has that ability. But just because you can doesn't mean you should. Luckily it has the ability to shrink too.

The 5 day pouch test is a good way to help you get control of what you are putting in your mouth. If you stick to it you will start to get the 'feeling' you need to know when you are satisfied at meals. That is what you are after NOT feeling full. If you are feeling full you eat too much.

I would suggest keeping a food journal. Write EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth. It keeps you accountable and makes you aware of exactly what and how much you are eating. It's a pain but how badly do you want to lose this weight?

Good luck

Also when you have stressed the stomach around the band(over eating or BP's) it is always a good idea to go back to full liquids for at least 24 hour.

Thank you to both of you for getting back to me. I was so afraid nobody would respond! I do keep a food journal. Unfortunately it was a long list. I guess I just need to remind myself often of how hard I worked to get this surgery. Now I have to work hard to break the old habits of eating nonstop when I get home from work. Exercising would be a great deterrent to pigging out. I am so exhausted when I get home though. I work as a full time substitute teacher at an Alternative school. I love my work and the kids, but it can be really frustrating! I do not want to blow it with this lapband (stretching it). This surgery was the best thing to happen to me in a long time. I was just worried that the damage I did was not reversable. I feel much better knowing that isn't the case. Thank you ladies!!
