Hello,

You usually don'thave much restriction after the first fill. You will feel more restriction after each fill. It sometimes takes 3-5 fills, sometimes more depending on how much is injected. Dont get discouraged. Just follow your doctors plan.

I'm so glad I read your entry. My surgery was 6/24 and my first fill was Monday. They added 3cc whatever that means but I don't feel a restriction. I'm so disappointed. They said the band holds 9cc total and I would think 3cc would do a little something don't you? I feel the only reason I'm losing is my own will power and the band isn't doing a thing. How about you?

Ohhhh....don't say that. I had my surgery on 7/2 and am getting my fill soon. I've lost 20 pounds due to willpower alone, I'm starving. I really want that restriction (although I'm not looking forward to getting something stuck for the first time as my doctor says almost everyone does at least once).

Don't think of it as a bad thing about losing weight on pure will power, THATS GREAT!!!!!! I have a 10cc band and my dr put 4cc's in at time of surgery. I did have quite a bit of restriction at first but as I healed the restriction wasn't as much. I just had a fill (Iam now 4 wks post op, 16 lbs lost) of 1.5cc's and I have good restriction but I will prob go back in 2 wks for another one. My dr said anytime I can eat more than 6-8oz at a time its time for a fill. He wants at least 2 wks in between fills though. See if you can go in for another fill??

Keep up the will power!

What exactly are you feeling guilty about? If your feeling guilty b/c you have NO problem foods, DON'T. I haven't found a problem food except yogurt. It seems to give me an upset stomach. Other than that I can eat it all. Just this morning I had 2 scrambled eggs. For lunch I have made up chicken salad. I pulled apart a roasted chicken that you buy at the grocery store and added low fat mayo (hate the fat free), onions, very finely chopped celery, sliced almonds, and cranberries. I will put that in a lettuce leaf and eat it like a sandwich. For dinner I usually make a meat and a side or two. Yesterday I had white chicken meat, green beans and about a teaspoon of mashed potatos. By the time I get to the carb Iam pretty full and can't eat much of it. I do try to avoid a lot of carbs b/c they add weight quick to my body. I don't avoid them, just eat them last and keep it super light in portion. With my new fill Iam staying pretty full in between meals. I do still drink my protein drinks as well. I will usually do those in between a meal. I make 4 oz ones in my blender and its a perfect snack. I don't eat sweets anymore. I eat sugar free pudding, jello with fat free whipped topping etc...

Your 3 wks out and have lost 15 lbs? That's great! Sounds like your doing exactly what you should. Do you have any fill yet?
