I am 25 years old. I am about 5"'3', 225lbs. I have had two kids and cant have any more. I have bp issues, breating issues, back pain and I just hate the extra weight I am carrying around since having kids. I used to be a size 5 before kids and now I am like a size 20+. It is hard for me. For the last three years, I have been to gyms, tried pills, so many different diets, and maybe lost like 20 lbs. :thumbdown:Not enough. I dont want to die young. I want to live long enough to see my grand children. I want to know if the lap band would really help me. What cost can I expect? I have Blue Cross and Blue Sheild Insurance, will they cover it? I really need the help. My family suports me with my decessions, I was hoping to make a few friends that could help me with the disicions as well. I have just started some research on the procedure, I will be reading thru the threads to see what others have put. I hope to gain enough information to help me with my decission.

Thanks~!

I have BCBS PPO - my surgery didn't cost me a dime. IS THE BAND WORTH THE cost for some and and the hoops you go hrough to get it? I believe it is. At least is for me. Good luck on your journey.

Hi,

Welcome to the LBT! I have not been banded yet but i will be on June 2. I have BCBS of Georgia. We had to meet a deductible and i ended up paying the doctor 1,027 and the hospital 1,350. So about 2400. But that is just my particular situation with the insurance. I started this journey in the middle of february and i have read every thread and looked at every website for positive and negative things about the lap band procedure and i am totally excited about getting it. The band is totally reversible. When i get pregnant i can have the fill removed so the baby gets all the nutrients that it needs. I would never do gastric bypass bc they want to cut off my stomach and let it float around inside me and i am NOT okay with that. Sorry i posted such a long comment. If you have ne questions i will try my best to anwer them, since i am not yet banded. But also everyone on this website will help you too! Its a really positive forum!
