I am in the process of working my way through the pre surgical workups. I hope to have my surgery this summer. I will visit my surgeon on Mon. 5/12. What I want to know I'm afraid to ask because I don't want him to think I'm not commited.

will I never be able to eat pasta or bread again. told it would swell and block me. I am willing to make the changes needed to lose the weight but I can't imagine the rest of my life w/o these items. I'm Italian very Italian.

I hope someone can give me some insight.

I had the exact same issues prior to surgery. I too am italian and love my pasta. THANKFULLY I am able to eat everything and thats after 2 fills. I do have to be careful not to eat too fast or too big of pieces but if i take my time and chew chew chew and take small bites I am fine!!!! I make a pot of sauce with some beef cubes in it, brascole, meatballs and let it cook a long time. That meat falls apart. I use Barilla whole grain thin pasta. I take very little pasta and more meat and lots of tomato sauce. I also take a good spoonful of part skim ricotta too and put that on it. It satisfies those pasta cravings real well. I am able to eat bread too although I do try to limit my carbs to only 200 calories a day per my nutritionists instructions. Good luck to you..
