Well, I made it through my 6 day pre-op liquid diet the hardest part about the pre-op was not being able to have anything to dink after midnight. I was so thirsty the morning I went to the hospital. I checked in at 10:30 I was called back to the first room where they asked all the same questions again and I got my blood thinner shot (Wow that was a fun one -you should see the bruise that left)after waiting with me for about a half hour I told my husband to go ahead and leave so he could get something to eat before he went to see our 4 year olds camp show at 1:00.We figured my surgery would be around 12:30 or 1:00 since they usually want you there 2 hours prior. However I think it was about 1 or 1:30 before I was wheeled to the room where they put in the i.v.I have to say i was starting to get very ansy and thinking okay i can still leave but since I didn't have any shoes or clothes figured it wouldn't be a good idea. NOT THAT I REALLY WOULD HAVE LEFT. But the just not knowing how long you are going to have to lay there and wait was not very fun. My husband would be back at 2:30 and I was hoping to be done with surgery. My husband was back at 2:30 and I still was not in surgery. They started around 3:00, the last thing I remember was being so cold ,and then waking up in the recovery room in a lot of pain and a whole lot of nausea, and asking for my husband. The pain and nausea must have gone away quickly with what ever they gave me cause I was out again. Not sure what time I got to my room barely remember that,I tried to drink some cranberry juice when they brought the dinner tray and it made me nauseas. My husband brought the boys around 8:00.My 7 year old did not like what he walked into and ran out the room saying I want to go home. It was a little overwhelming for him with the I.V. and beeps and probably seeing his mommy looking the way I did. My 4 year old came in very hesitantly and came and held my hand. After a few minutes the older one came back in and actually got close enough for me to hold his hand and tell him I was alright and there was nothing to be afraid about, and I would be home tommorrow. They left and I drifted back to sleep. My nurse got me up at 11:00 for a little stroll down the hall. It wasn't to bad just felt very groggy while walking. She told me she had had gastric bypass a year and a half ago. It's nice when you have a nurse who knows what your going through.I continued my pain med and nausea med throughout the night . I got up twice to go to the bathroom, which the nurse would have to come in and get the things off my legs because I could not possibly have bent over to get them off myself. In the morning I was able to sip on my crystal light and Unjury protien powder mixed together, and eventually got it all down, as well as a couple of bites of jello. My surgeon came in and cleared me to leave and I will see him this Thursday until then I will be on clear liquids.I can not wait to eat something even if it is all mushed up . I am going to have salmon and turnip greens as soon as i get to stage 3. I have not experienced the horrible gas pain I heard so much about and hoping that if it was going to happen it would have already by now. I am two days post op. The pain is not so bad just mainly when getting up from bed or a chair and getting into bed. I was able to sleep on my side for a while this afternoon, but i don't dare try my stomach yet. I have a little pain in my chest if I take a deep breathe in. It's funny my stomach is growling so loud right now, but I don't really feel hungry.I haven't had any pain medication today. and hopefully won't need any. All in all it went very well, so glad the surgery is over and I am home.

Well gonna go have a cup of chicken broth and then go take a nap
