Hi Im Jax777

I had gastric sleeve surgery on March 8, 2016.  It's been a year and I still haven't gotten to my goal.  I started out at 268 lbs and I weight 220lbs.  I feel like I have failed.  I know why I am failing.  I was told I would have more energy but I always feel tired, so I skip exercising.  I try to meet my 60 to 80 grams of protein a day but I get lost in the counting and I find myself eating carbs like chips, rice or pasta.  I forget to take my multivitamins.  I try to stick to the plan but I get depress when I get on the scale.  I wonder if my stomach stretched out already and that's why I am eating more or more frequently.  Help.

You've lost 48 pounds! That's nothing to get upset about. As for the rest, I can't give much advice. My surgery isn't for another week. But I know whenever I have goals, I look for easy ways to remember and motivate myself. I use MyFitnessPal to track my food. I set phone alarms and reminders to make sure I don't forget things. I have pill strip containers I use to know if I've taken meds for the day or not. Best of luck with everything!

I just had mine on 21st of March and I already feel like u do. Food has been my comfort especially when I am down. I think I am going to try seeing a counselor for my eating issue. Try using the apps to log your food and I am doing multivitamin patches which make it easier not to forget. And don't go by the scale just get it in your mind that u are going to start brand new and start making the changes you need to and take it a day at a time. Good luck! I am struggling too and I'm just beginning which scares me.

The only person who can fight for you is you,

What are you most proud of?

What are your greatest accomplishments?

What are your goals for your future?

What kind of support system do you have around you?

Who goes grocery shopping?

Are you planning a menu?

Are you weighing and measuring out your portions?

Try using a smaller dessert plate for your regular plate.

Set timers to remind you to drink water and take your vitamins.

You are NOT a failure, we all suffer setbacks and frustrations.

Clean out your refrigerator, and pantry, NO rice, no pasta, no potatoes

Read Labels, Carbs, Sugars and Protein

Do you have a fitbit or the like?

Set some goals and start moving, be proud of every step you take...it is a big deal overtime we get out of bed and fight for ourselves!

I promise you I do everything above and still struggle to but everyday is a new day, and it must start with loving ourselves enough to fight for us.

I am here if you'd like to talk, and I love new friends!!!!

My best to you always

I was so off track both mentally and physically. The day after surgery I weighed in at 267. Dropped to 232 then back up to 235.4. I was questioning if my stomach was stretched out and if that's why I felt like I ate more than I should or was now feeling hungry all the time. Was it my stomach or my old habits? I do not want to fail this journey!! I'm tired of being obese and buying plus size clothes. I started being more active whether going to gym or walking at home. I try to do something at least 5 or more days a week. When I sit down to eat I try and listen to my stomach not my brain. I still eat rice and pasta but very rarely. I hate protein shakes and yogurt but found a Greek yogurt that's tolerable so I mix my protein powder in it so I can get more protein. Today I'm only down to 230 but I am not letting that bring me down. I haven't been this weight in probably 20 years. My original weight was 330 lbs I wore a tight 4x. It was miserable and I am halfway to where I want to be. I don't want to be skinny just healthy a size 12 will be good enough for me. Just to be under 200 would be amazing!! We can do this !!!

Lynne5767 your response is wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to write out such a thoughtful, caring response. It got me all motivated and I haven't even had my surgery yet. LOL.

Jax you can do this!!! If I encounter problems I am going to go to OA (overeaters anonymous).

Thank you so much to all of you. I am glad I am not alone.

Jhope71 I will get back on Myfitnesspal and use my alarm.

Nulife16 It is hard but we have changed a bit and little by little I know we can get there. Counseling is exactly what we need because it's not just how we feel in our stomach it's also a mental issue, I so with you Nulife16.

Lynne5767 I would love to have you around all the time LOL! you are so motivating. Thank you for the advise and ideas. Your awesome!

RN4WHLR Yes OA sounds like a great program I will check it out. Thank you for your encouragement :)
