Day 3 post op

Domika03

Had a tough time sleeping last night. I think it's because I've been sleeping on the recliner & my back and neck were bothering me. Woke up with a horrible headache that actually brought me to tears. I took tylenol & had a cold wet cloth on my head & temple. Thankfully, it finally went away. It could also be a combination on not being able to eat anything nutritious at this point.

The good news is that the gas pain has pretty much subsided. I've been trying to walk around the house as best as possible. I think I'm getting hungry but know I can't eat with my stomach still swollen & all.

I'm also a bit concerned about constipation & when I'll be able to 'go' again. I haven't heard from anyone in this situation. I know it's a delicate subject but I would love to get some feedback. Would appreciate any advice...

So, all in all, I'm feeling better each day. Slow to walk around but getting around better.

Once day at a time!

We had our surgery the same day! I was worried about constipation too, but instead was shocked to have a completely liquid bm, sorry to mention it. I wasn't expecting that - maybe because I was on liquids only and so much IV in the hospital? I think if you are worried about constipation, keeping up with plenty of water is the way to go.

Yeah, one time the week after, I thought I was just gonna toot and well....you know. They were liquidy for a while. Then like the second week I couldn't go at all. I recommend adding benefiber to your food or drinks (you can't even tell its there). Or take a chewable laxative. Best wishes!

HI Domnika..Im Dee, 4 years out: 3/1/2010...remember your body just a MAJOR thing happen it. It's adjusting, what happens to the intestine when its been touched or cut, fall dead like a possium...lol..like one of the fainting goats...lol..it needs time to realize its undamaged and being left alone. Give it time. Your stomach doesn't realize its a pouch yet. Its a newborn baby trying to seen immature signals to the brain. So the brain automatically thinks its hungry, drink hot broth or water. You are NOT hungry, your intestine are still sleep and not ready for solids, that's why we cant eat them. Give your system time to understand whats happen to it. Remember, your innards have no air, so it can not form a scab. It takes a while to heal. It's rest that heals it quickly. Your bowel will wake up on their own time..NO LAXATIVES. who wakes up a sleeping baby?..
