What am I doing wrong?

My surgery was on August 14, 2013. Pre-surgery I was 243 lbs and now I am 217 lbs.

My weight goes back and forth every day and it has been like a stale mate here for going on 2 weeks now. I can't get passed the 217 mark and if I eat anything I will go back up to 220.

It has been very difficult getting food down. Shakes, protein's and vitamins. I am struggling to get anything down. The only thing I have found that I can get down and keep down (if I take 45 minutes to eat) is Salmon. The frozen packakge.

Other than that, Its hard. I am still on a soft solid diet. So I will try mashed potatoes, yogurt, eggs, bananas, etc... Yet anything I eat just sits there and takes forever to go down and hurts, which in turn makes me not want to eat.

Everything else has a funny smell or taste and its like parting the red sea to get me to eat it.

I am walking everyday at work. I walk around the building 4 times which equates to roughly a mile. I try to get enough water down. I drink about 3 bottles a day. (about 45 oz's). It's been tough getting that down.

I didnt think I would have this many issues. It just feels like I am failing and I don't know what to do.

Mary71,

You're doing great; you've lost 26 pounds in one month. That's a great start, Yes; you have to work on you fluid intake and obvious your food intake too. Stop beating yourself up, also make sure you are taking a multivitamin daily. Continue to look around the boards and I'm sure you will find someone that has face the same issue you are dealing with.

Good Luck To You

Mary,

You're doing great! I was sleeved 8/6 and you've lost more than I have.....and our start weight isn't that far apart (mine was 225).

My weight has been a stalemate more than 1/2 of the time post op....If you're weighing yourself daily, don't.....that can get you down.....try weighing once a week or every other week.....I'm sure you're seeing a difference in your clothing..

sometimes I compare myself to others, and think I'm doing poorly....but I have to remind myself it's not a race, and we all lose weight at our own pace....no two bodies are the same.....Good luck, don't be so tough on yourself.....good luck

You are driving yourself "round the bend". And like the two above have said, YOU ARE DOING GREAT. Hide the daggone scales and just focus on liguids and protein. You are still healing... Heal, practice and IGNORE the weight...

Thank you all for the words of encouragment. I SO APPRECIATE IT. You are all probably right and I need to leave the scale alone.

Good luck to all of you as well.
