Post Op Exercise: Combating the Sag

Walking has really helped reduce the loose skin on my inner thighs and doing wall push ups is helping reduce my bat wings. :-P Now I'm looking for some form of exercise to reduce my loose stomach skin.

I think that high repetitions, not necessarily high weight or high intensity is the way to go for me. I think the increase fluid and blood flow into the loose skin areas revs up the skin recovery process.

I haven't been able to start walking yet because of my other health problems, Fibromyalgia and arthritis of the knee. I saw my Rhuematologist today and she is ordering knee braces and support socks that should ease the pain of walking. Tomorrow I'm going to try walking around my condo complex with my son and dog.

Start slow fibro diva ...I want to start a squat challenge as well because I had great results before tight thighs and butt but it has to be done everyday

I like the idea of a challenge. I want to work on my bat wings and stomach as well as my thighs like joatsaint.

My insurance required that I see a personal trainer pre-op. They only required one visit and it was not covered by insurance. The personal trainer wasn't very helpful because she had not dealt with people with Fibromyalgia [pwf] before but she did give me an information packet on exercise.

I will upload the package here. Hope others find this packet helpful.



Page one is on stretching. The personal trainer recommended stretching before and after exercise.

Very interesting I'm going to try it when I'm 4 weeks out bout today I'm feeling down I lost no weight in 4 days

Have you been sipping at least 64 ounces of fluid a day? My nutritionist said we have to stay hydrated or we will not see any weight loss during our beginning phase.

Honestly I've been slacking with the water all of a sudden I'm not hungry

I know what you mean, I'm having a hard time these last few days making myself drink something. I'm having trouble with the protein shakes. I can't drink them. Pre-op I was drinking 2 to 3 a day, but post op I can't get a sip down. So I'm back on clear liquids. I'm very weak and can't even walk around the grocery store without leaning on a cart or using my scooter.

I want to go out with my son and walk the dog but I can't drag myslef out of bed.

I'm a little over 4 weeks post-op. I'm walking and doing the stretching exercises suggested by my personal trainer. Now I'm in physical therapy for my Fibro and to strengthen my core so I'm ready to add arm exercises.

Here we go im going to try t get 30 min walking in

I start physical therapy for my Fibro on Monday September 09. Basically it will be the type of exercises needed to combat the sag. While here at the Cosmopolitan in Vegas for PainWeek 2013 I started exercising in the fitness center. My first day here I did 5 minutes of cycling on the recumbent bike. Now I'lm up to 18 minutes.

I'm very pleased that my Fibromyalgia doctor insisted that I go to physical therapy. After about 3 weeks of Fibro oriented PT, my physical therapist then began working in the exercises that my personal trainer suggested. I do see that I am gaining strength and toning. However I can not get rid of the Bat Wings and cottage cheese thighs. They are not as bad as I had feared but they are there.
