blogs/blog-0708155001368946066.jpgI hate when things happen on weekends. I've noticed some itching...getting very severe the past couple of days. Surgery was 5 days ago. I have a red area on each incision that has doubled today. It's warm to touch, the itching is just general on each incision. Seeing dr Monday. Wondering if is reaction to tape? No fever. No drainage (I'm a nurse, but of of course this isn't an er visit on a Sunday kind of thing) just wondering if others had wounds look similar?

Try gauze with Neosporin. Use a roll of surgical tape (paper tape variety is easier on the skin) to hold the gauze. Definitely call your doctor, even on call, and tell him or her about the redness.

I had the same thing. What a nightmare! The itching is maddening and I thought it would never stop. It took over a month to heal. It is almost certainly a reaction to the bandages. I took mine off when the itching became unbearable and things slowly got better. Try some cortisone cream on the areas around the incisions and loose the bandages. I think you will get some much needed relief.

yes, I am allergic to the adhesive on tape, bandaids, ect. and they put them on anyways. I have the same thing as you, I had to pull off the bandaids, but left the steri strips. It really itches something fierce.I am using a cream on the rash that I was given before for an allergic reaction. Show your doc, he can give you something.

I had the same exact thing couple days after surgey. My doctor says it was an allergic reaction to the tape or spray. I used trriple paste for the itching and i take Benadryl. it helps me. Im better now
