food and guilt.. am I the only one who feels guilty after eating, after being sleeved?

blogs/blog-0589633001367945046.jpgAm I the only person who feels guilt after eating? I was sleeved one week ago today and last night I had some homemade chicken soup.

I put it into my chopper and blended it into like baby food form and ate my heart out lol. well I ate about 4 oz It was so good and I was full BUT,

I felt so guilty I don't know if I can have it? but, I didn't get sick.

 

Today I'm feeling so guilty i don't know what to do with myself is this normal? Also, does anyone know when the hunger hormone will be GONE from

my body?? thanks in advance!

Did you only eat the broth? If not are you allowed the other stuff this early out? I could only have liquids for 3 weeks but every surgeon's plans are different..If so then dont' feel guilty, as long as you tolerated it ok..I wish I knew when the hunger hormone would be gone because I am 5 weeks out today and I still feel hunger! Good luck to you on your journey..and just follow your Dr's plan so that you recover well..

I never felt guilty about eating post-sleeve. But I did feel scared. I was afraid I'd eat too much and stretch out my sleeve and sabotage myself.

As far as feeling hungry goes, if you are like me, pasta triggers my hunger. If there were noodles in the chicken soup, I know that the noodles would make me hungrier, the more I ate and after a couple of hours, I'd have a carb crash and be hungry again.

But when I was only 1 week out, I wasn't allowed anything but full liquids - like protein shakes and chicken broth or creamy soups with no solid particles.

i was allowed to eat mushy food from day 1. it's my surgeon's practice to do this for three days and begin to move toward more solid food (we had a list). i stayed on the mushy food plan for a couple of weeks...it was easier on the tummy. i had the same concerns about quantity and purchased a food scale. i weigh everything, trying to keep things in the 2.5 - 3.5 ounce range. it keeps me from being too full and allows me to manage quantity more accurately. if you look at the calorie count for homemade chicken noodle soup you'll find it's not that bad for 4 ounces. i use fitnesspal to track calories and food. however, i was surprised at the amount of salt i was consuming in the mushy food stage. yikes! can we say water weight? i'm now in the habit of asking myself, "self....is the food you're about to eat healthy and will it nourish my body?" i try to let the sleeve guide to me. ...hmmm....others have named their sleeve....maybe it's time I gave mine a name.....

let your sleeve guide you.....don't sweat too much the first few weeks out...you're learning....

I say as long as it was blended really well and you didn't get sick your fine. Do not feel guilty, the more nutrients you can get in the better off you will be. And it was homemade which is the best because you can watch the sodium intake, that of which you can't control with canned soups.

@Kari61 I have just been eating the broth but last night I took a few soft veggies and put them into my chopper and liquefied them but I'm on a 3 week all liquid diet also.

@Melody2 you could have mash potato's? (i love potatoes) I never thought about naming my sleeve haha kinda funny.

@ CoCo41 very true I'm going to have some more it was really good.

definitely get itchy after taking the B12 vitamin. unfortunately, and to my great dismay (as a former potato lover), my tummy will not tolerate any type of potato in any form....the sleeve says, "no way i'm digesting this stuff.....and the sleeve instantly disposes of the problem...." .....sigh...

Hi I am new to the sleeve, just a week out. I was not told to take a vitamin...what does Vitamin B12 do?

@Melody2 Have you tried the B12 injection?

@GMJIMENEZ You should be taking vitamins to replace the nutrients from the loss of food, to keep your body going! You might want to call your doctor and ask him. I take the Centrum chewable I take 2 a day at noon. hope this helps :) the B12 is for energy. The doctor told me NOT to take gummies because it doesn't have time to break down the vitamins before its digested.

i feel guilty of i don't measure my food and perhaps maybe....just maybe go over the amount ..both physically and calories i should be eating. i have great resistance with the sleeve but never great fear i Will stretch it out

. i was in nyc for business and are more than usual yesterday.....i wasnt going to get on the scale till Monday in case i gained ( lost 3 lbs) i wish i could lose the guilt and other issues with food, control...etc....

Congrats on loosing 3 Pd's!! even though the number is small it is still a accomplishment!

I feel guilty every time I put anything in my mouth that tastes good. the only conclusion that I have came up with is to exercise and work it off. I love my sleeve but some days I just can't seem to get full. :( I've got to find my balance! and sometimes that is the hardest thing to do.
