My hair! My hair!

blogs/blog-0561010001367416664.jpgWhat? I'm going to lose all my hair! Geeze Louise. I don't have any to spare.

Seriously, what about the hair loss? What is the best way to limit that tiny little cause and effect of surgery?

I'm not going to change my mind about surgery but I would rather keep my hair.

I need hair to pull out as I reach the stage of having 4 teenagers at the same time. No, I don't need hair for that. I MUST have hair to pull out. Otherwise, I'll commit hairy-cary. I'll end up in jail bird orange. I don't even like orange.

Help!!!

Judy

Start with the biotin now. 5,000 mcg per day. Also, it is said that while you are on your pre op try to get about 100 grams of protein per day and protein the first two weeks after is supposed to help as well. Not to mention more protein in the early weeks will help the healing process. Some surgeons say get protein as soon as you get home but a few say no protein for the first 1-3 weeks. Of course, listen to your surgeon.

I did protein as soon as I got home in the way of Isopure, was started out with about 20 grams then was at 60 by the end of the first week. My healing went extremely well and have not lost hair yet, but it is said that usually happens 2-4 months out. I am 8 weeks today so probably not there yet but hoping to minimize it.

Good luck, you will love your sleeve! I know I love mine!

I already have really thin hair (pre surgery), so I'm being diligent to take my biotin, multivitamins and vitamin e every day before surgery, as well as getting in atleast 80 to 100 grams of protein per day. I don't know if it will help or not, but it sure won't hurt to try ;)

Hi at 4 months I started losing hair.... My hair got really thin around the crown of my head. The hair loss has really slowed down now. I will be at the 6 month mark in a few days. So yes my hair did thin a lot..... I have taken nothing for it. In my pre op classes we were told that biotin was really not a proven fact in stopping hair loss. I made sure to get in all my daily protein.... Never skip a beat on that... Best wishes Tina

Many have said that Biotin increases their appetites. I don't take it for that reason. I am 2 months out and haven't lost any hair as of yet!
