Denied by Aetna

Hi everyone. I'm new here. Well, I found out on Monday, 3/11 that I was denied for my surgery by Aetna because about 2 years ago I lost over 100 pounds through diet and exercise. I kept the weight off for about a month if that long. I have since gained all the weight that I lost back and then some. I've struggled with my weight all my life. My doctor is doing something called a peer to peer review to see if she can get the denial overturned. Waiting for an answer is torture.

so sorry to hear that. I just hate insurance companies dictating your health. You would think that if you've regained the weight then you need some help. I hope your doctor gets it overturned for you.

Ahhh I don't want to hear that. I just submitted my papers for approval Monday. I also lost over 100lbs about 5 years ago and kept most of it off for about 3 years, but have regained about 70 of it back over the last 2 years due to a foot injury, depression and just life. i was just diagnosed pre diabetic and have knee and foot pain. I am just sick with worry that I will be denied, but my insurance coordinator and assured me that if I am denied we have options. I have, even at my lowest weight been over 210lbs. Would you mind sharing if you had other health issues and what your low weight was. I hope that you get approved. I hear that people are successful with the peer to peer review. Best of luck.
