Hi all,

Just curious im two months post-op I have lost 31 lbs(yaY) My question is if anyone use protein bars as one of their meals or mainly as a snack??? I really want to stick to just 3 meals a day but not sure if i should use the protein bar/drink as a meal I am having a hard time getting my 60-80 grms of protein daily thru regular food so im curious if i should use a protein bar/drink as a meal. I visited gnc today and purchase quest protein bars and isopure drinks. quest bars gives 20 grams of protein per bar and isopure drinks gives 40 grams protein.... by no means do i plan to eat more than one bar a day or drink one isopure a day I was sso surprised to see so many drinks bars shakes etc to choose from.(my first time ever visiting gnc) I am happy to have my sleeve but i find that i have to purchase more things to help with protein since i cant eat 60-80 grms daily.... There are some pros and cons to this whole wls.... by no means am i unhappy just have to get creative and not break my pocketbook buying all these vitamins supplements protein etc. Any feedback would be appreciated!

If you like the Quest bars I'll send mine to you. I didn't like them. At my 3 month checkup the PA told me to up my protein by having a protein shake each day....now 70-80 a day instead of 60 and make sure and get my water in. I keep a bar in my purse at all times (Pure Protein) and will have one as a snack or meal if I need one when I'm away from the house. Liquids is the hardest for me.

I have one protein shake five days a week. I eat eggs or yogurt for breakfast, tuna for lunch, and fish, chicken or ground turkey for dinner. And between I snack on baby bells or cheese sticks. It is hard to eat everything cause we fill up so quickly, and then you have to get all your water and liquids in. I hope it does get easier to eat somewhat of a regular meal, with veggies or a salad.

Carol,

I'm sorry you didn't like the Quest bars. Did you get a sample pack or just one flavor?

I started out with the sample pack. I only really liked a couple, but that's OK. I would be happy to have 3 flavors to choose from. So #1 is Vanilla Almond, #2 is Mixed Berry Bliss and #3 is their new Peanut Butter Bars (like Reese's Cups).

If no one else takes you up on your offer, send them to me!!

I eat one bar a day, usually in late afternoon or late evening. Like you, I don't have boo coo bucks, so that's all I can afford. What's really great about Quest is that not only do you get 20g of protein, you also get 20g of fiber, which is what keeps your appetite away. Plus they are soooo healthy at only 1g of sugar and 5 carbs.

I have heard others say to heat them in Microwave first. But I love them any which way. To others: try them out. Buy from GNC or online at Amazon.

yes i like the variety pack i picked i agree they make u feel full and i know i need the protein since i cant get it all in thru regular food. I feel at times im overeating and not listening to my body so i figure the bar or protein drink will do the trick and i cant overeat or run the risk of the dreadful slime or vomit.... I believe i have had 3 episodes of sliming since my surgery. I also like the alpine punch almost frozen. Its so hard to keepup with all the vitamins protein food portions daily. I have tried to get a system going but dont always follow thru like i should especially the weekends. Overall im happy with my sleeve and the wl. I have discovered so far that i like the choc brownie and peanut supreme quest bar. My next bar to try is mixed berry. Best wishes to all for responding :)
