Confession Time: The Spaghetti Monster Almost Got ME!

blogs/blog-0161885001360712320.jpgI found one of my trigger foods. It's spaghetti or more specifically pasta. My mom made some homemade spaghetti on Sunday (homemade as in, homemade from a jar, you know, the same line of thought as Olive Garden treats you like family). Really, Olive Garden treats you like family, I don't recall my mom ever presenting a bill at the end of a meal. :P But I digress.

Any way, I took the leftovers home with me. For supper, I ate my normal portion, and a few minutes later wanted another portion - even though my stomach was telling me I was stuffed to the top. I wanted it so bad that I would have cage wrestled a bear for another bowl.

It wasn't easy, but I stopped myself. The hardest part - and I can't believe it was so difficult to do - was to throw out the spaghetti. I kept telling myself that I could space out the spaghetti into several meals during the week. But, I knew if I left it in the house, I'd find some way to convince myself to eat more that eventing. There is a dog that trots through my yard daily, so he may be going into insulin shock today! B)

Only 1 other time have I wanted to eat something so bad - it was a banana laying in the fruit bowl. So adios spaghetti noodles, I'll eat you at mom's house, but you won't be coming home with me anymore.

I think that we have all been there, I found myself doing the same on sunday ... I love middle eastern food , Kababs , hummus , rice , bread , my husband took me out for dinner , I orderd my food , knowing of course that I could only take a few bites and I was gonna take the left overs home ( which would be the entire plate ) .

I took a few bites at the restaurant , I was full after like 4-5 .... took the rest to go , later that evening I opend the cooler and took the food out again , and took a few more bites , did it twice :( . I have done pretty good since I was sleeved Nov 13 , 2012 .... lost 47 lbs , but in the past 2 weeks or so , I been feeling hungry more frequently , I am trying to have self control by carrying with me some sugar free peach cups 60 cal , but I wonder if its actual cravings or all in the mind. :(

Mine was Fuzzy's fish tacos. I would eat 4 before surgery so I thought that 2 would be safe now, minus the lettuce and cheese, and salsa. Boy was I wrong! I got half of one down and then pushed it.....and I drank some water too. Oh no, they tasted much better the first time, and I almost did not make it out of the place before I started barfing. Live and learn.

I think that when I have had enough protein I do better at resisting temptations, but when I am running low my resolve melts away.

I ate only some meatballs and not any of the spaghetti, and still got sick. Ugh. The next day, I threw out the extra ones I had planned for another meal. That is really hard for me to do after so many years of cleaning my plate.......But down 43 pounds so I have to keep watching portion sizes!!! 13 weeks out.

OMG I so relate to this. My story is a little different though - I made home made spaghetti just like I used to (from scratch the whole shebang) - from beginning to end, it took hours. I used to do it all the time and it was the first time I had done it since the surgery. Now, this would be okay if I didn't LIVE ALONE lol. So I cook this feast, eat a few forkfuls and am full.

But do I stop? Hell no. I decide to have "just one more bite..." - cut to me puking my guts up for the next 30 minutes. I kept heaving long after I had gotten rid of all of the content from my stomach.

As you can imagine, it has cured me of my sketti cravings. For good :)

This is so true. I have to keep all foods that are sugary out of my house these days. I am so struggling with my head hunger these days..... :( Anyways, I threw away some girl scout cookies today! It's hard but I've decided not to buy them anymore....... Good job throwing out the spaghetti! Yayyyyyyyy! :)

you cant eat banana?

Yep, I can eat bananas, but at the time I didn't know that I wanted a banana - till I walked past it. Then the banana threw a craving on me! I think it was a voodoo banana or something.

P.S. I like bananas, but for some reason, they cause my stomach to grumble - not that it stops me from eating them. :-P
