Surgery is happening....

OMG, my surgeon now has everything they need from my PCP which means I will be having my surgery on Tuesday 2/5 at 11am....I'm excited and nervous and a whole big ball of emotion I don't know what to do. I started my journey a year ago and never thought this day would actually come and now my surgery is just a few short days away!!!!

I still feel like people judge you when you tell them you are having weight loss surgery, I know I'm only 36 and that I shouldn't have some of the issues I have with my knees and my back. I'm a nurse I should know better RIGHT???? I think the last time I was under 200lbs was 17 years ago right after I had my son. I want to be able to walk up and down my stairs without hearing my knee crunch with every step. I'm still young RIGHT??? I want to be able to go to an amusement park and go on the roller coasters without having to have my boobs crushed in the harness (I have had people do pushups off my chest to close the harness.....) I want to do so many things including going to a normal store and buy cute clothes instead of having to pay through the nose for clothes that don't look like something my grandmother would wear.....I'm so ready for this surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's great that you have made this decision for yourself. I too have had people who don't understand, but that's okay. I am so glad you're doing it now. I am 57 and 4 days post surgery. I wish I had done it 20 years ago. I feel I've missed out on so much for so long. Hang in there, you're gonna do great!!

I know how you feel. I started my WLS journey in August of '12 and now my surgery is scheduled for Feb 11th. I am also sorta freaking out! It's intense...I am also 36 and can relate to what you describe of the knee crunching going up stairs. Heck! I even crib about a parking lot being slanted and dread walking. I am in my surgery zone right now, thinking about the actual surgery, hospital stay and getting through it all. But I think the harder part is going to be the mental challenges of having a life long change towards food. The other thing I fear is the attention from people. I find it intrusive and nosey when people notice fluctuations in my weight. I am going to have to deal with a lot of that.

Good luck and keep us posted. :)

Hey my surgery date is the 5th too! I'm on my liquid diet which has me all over the place. One minute I'm totally committed and the next I'm plotting how to get out of it w/o losing self respect. And then I think about having the leftovers from the last dinner I had. On this side I'm just not sure how I'm going to be able to do 8 weeks of liquids. I'm already sick of them and it's day 3 on liquids, I have another 63 to go.

Good luck

I've got the unjury chicken for dinner since all the 'sweet' from the chocolate shakes during the day gets rather nauseating. I've been bulking up on the water, every time I get a hunger pang or my head wants something tasty, I just drink a bunch of water.

I only have to do 48 hours of clear liquids so I start my clears on Sunday (good thing my favorite football team didn't make it to the super bowl....lol) I went to my pre-op class tonight and it was all information that has been driven into my head for the past year. I'm just ready for Tuesday to come and get this journey really started..... Good Luck to all of you as well I'm sure we'll all do great!!!!!
