10 days to go

10 days to go and I can hardly wait, I'm almost counting down the secs. My emotions are all over the place, one moment I'm jumping up and down like a child waiting for Christmas, and then five mins later I'm in a panic, wondering if I'm doing the right thing, and how much it's going to hurt, will I be able to drink enough fluids ect, then back to how great I'm going to look and how much I'm going to enjoy working out like I used to. arghhhhhhhhhhhh... I hope it's all pretty normal...

I'm now on one small, healthy meal a day and two protein shakes, I spent the $50 and got the large can of isopure vanilla, and I mix it with unsweetened almond milk it was a good purchase, I love the taste, it reminds me of an old fashioned malt shake yum!

Oh yes and I started walking again, I guess as they are going to make me walk in the hospital I had better get used to it so I thought I would try and get in a mile a day for starters, I made my goal today :)

thats about it for today, the pre operation diet is driving me nuts, I'm not hungry in my stomach at all, but my head is constantly like a child screaming for food, snacks and trash im demented by it... anyone out there? anyone know what I'm going on about? and anyone got any advice? apart from telling my head to hush up lol

Hi serenafish,

10 days to go for the big day! yay!

I was where you were not too long ago so know exactly what you mean.

It's exciting and empowering while also being scary as hell.

I was fortunate enough to have a relatively pain free recovery, the only pain I had was in my back from lying on it for a long time and in my shoulder due to the gas. The pain lasted for the first 2 days or so, after which I just had mild discomfort for about 2 weeks.

I still struggle with water, cannot have more than 3 glasses a day and even that's pushing it.. but then I've always had a problem drinking water so may not be as bad for you.

Head hunger is a problem, but as you said the mind is like a child screaming for food, it is also easy to distract. What works for me is trying on old clothes, reading, and if it gets really really bad, I leave the house and go for a long walk, away from the temptation of food! lol

Glad you found a protein you like in advance, will make your life much easier, I was initially on some really horrible powders given by the doc and hated every minute of it.

sorry for the long rant and best of luck for the surgery! Let us know how things go :)

Hi vicki....

counting down the hours here lol

Thank you for sharing some of your story, every bit helps me, the more I read the me assured I feel. You and I have the same thing going on with water too lol I only drink bottled water ( as I gave up fizzy drinks two years ago, and I also gave up caffeine at the same time) now I sprinkle a little crystal light orange into three small bottles of water a day and try to drink them, I only do two most days but have managed three on a blue moon, so I have no idea how I will manage after surgery, but im guessing if it's not killing or dehydrating me now, then it wont do it then either right? well perhaps lol

head hunger is driving me totally mental, it's almost 24/7 it wont shut up, it was like that quite often b4 the diet but now it's almost like im in panic mode, the world is going to run out of food soon and if I dont eat it all I'll dieeeeeeeeeeee... it's very intense , I hope it will pass soon, I am walking a mile a day now, playing with my new puppy more and still having to work at night atm, so ur right keeping busy helps a little but arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lol

I like the isopure a lot as there is no bloating with it, but incase my tummy wont agree with me after the op I have some muscle milk light, it's also lactose free ....

I'm hoping the gas wont be too bad after the op, it sounds horrific, and I dont do well on pain killers so I tend to go it alone, I will be sure to shout about it if it's toooooo bad yikes :)

rant on... I sure do :D
