So here we are: Day one of my pre-op sugar and carb free liquid diet. I was terrified to wake up this morning for the fear that my hunger would be so bad I would fail, fail once again on my weight loss journey. But I pulled on my big girl panties got up put two feet on the ground and started my day. I began with a few drinkable yogurts, some jell-o and a coffee. A black coffee without the delicious milk and sugar but hey the caffeine is what I wanted. For dinner it will be broth but I look at this as my last fad diet, the last time I will ever see the scale go up, the last time I will fail.

You GOT this! The first few days are rough, but once you reach day 3 or 4 you'll feel energized and you'll feel almost like you've come out of a fog. The BEAUTIFUL thing about these preop diets is that after the first few days the hunger does subside substantially.

How long do you have to do the pre-op diet. I start mine on Tuesday for two weeks alternating between 800 and 1200 calories of liquids a day. I am almost more nervous about it than the surgery itself. I don't know if that makes sense but even when I am dieting I can eat an apple or carrots or something in my plan but the diet is three very small liquid meals a day. I hope I feel energetic and not wiped out.

I wish I could have liquid yogart. :( I am on my five day clear liquids only diet. Today is day three and it has amazed me how I have only had a few hunger pains and usually a nice bowl of hot broth helps. Even with all the ungury (mixed with water), jello, juice and broth I am only getting about 500 calories in per day. BUT...on the high note...I have dropped about 8 # in the first two days.
