3 weeks out...some buyers remorse.

I have been battling some buyers remorse. I am soooooooo tired of soups and soft foods. My docs instructions, are full liquids, protein drinks, scrambled egg only, yogurt, cheeses, refried beans and fish. No purees. This sounded great 2 weeks ago but now I would rather not eat than have the things I am allowed. I am not getting in my protein or all of my fluids. I have also hit a stall. I am sure its because of my lack of protein and fluids.

It has been so depressing when my daughter insisted I go out to lunch with her the other day, I replied "why so you can pay 12.00 for the 3 spoons of soup I will

hate?"

This morning I had a talk with myself, I know this is temporary. I know I needed this surgery and was blessed to be able to have it. I am determined that starting today I will eat some protein every 3 hours, drink my fluids and do some light exercise.

In one more week I can add shrimp, crab, chicken and turkey, soft veggies, salad and fruit!!!!!!!!! Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Life will be so much easier then. I will feel like I can actually make a regular meal, I have been collecting some high protein recipes and can't wait to try them.

glad you had that 'talk with yourself"-its hard at first - you are on the right track- get those necessary fluids, protein et al in - - be eating more "normal" soon -

WLS was/is worth it - one year PO - 101 lbs gone forever - GOAL

life IS good - good luck - look forward to a wonderful healthier, happier new year!!!

I had the EXACT same problem. I regretted the surgery at that stage because I was so sick of soup and soft foods. Im now at 4 weeks out and I eat small amounts of things like egg salad on crackers, sweet potato, rice, canned ham salad on crackers, boiled soft veggies, and even chili. I just chew very well. also it was allot of trial and error testing out what I can tolerate. once I found out I stuck to the foods that make me feel the best. really not what doc says to do, but Im still losing 1-2 pounds per day, and feeling great. dont worry just try bites of things and if they feel good going down then go for it. just chew well and take it slow between bites. :)

also be careful when adding meat. its harder to digest so chew well and take it SLOW!! I found this out the hard way when I tried chicken. it got stuck half way down. I stay away from most meats except lean ground meats that go down easier but I still have very small amounts of them. I was soo excited that i diddnt take my time and I suffered for it lol. hope this helps :)

Maybe it would help if you got a little creative with the things you are allowed...make mini casseroles (or atleast where it feels like a casserole)....like I use those little ramekins that you can bake in. The tiny little pyrex glass containers. You can put them in the oven or I use a toaster oven to cook in. Put some beans with cheese in one and bake it till cheese is bubbly...then u can use plain yogurt kinda like sour cream...I mix a little bit of taco bell salsa in it for flavor. Or make a Tuna Melt with your fish....same concept. At this point your wanting something different so dont be affriad to try things that sound kinda gross...like mix a little cream of brocolli soup with some tuna then a little cheese on top and bake it. Sounds nasty, but your getting a different flavor than the same old tuna all the time. Your only making 3-4 bites with your ingredients so if you hate it your not out much...try something else. Like mixing tuna and cheese to bake. Even make an egg bake...like a baby quiche. Scramble the egg....put in a little cheese or tuna and make a little bake. You can even use a microwave for these baby casserole bakes. Just try to come up with new ideas with what you have. Your doing great and its only going to get better as you can add more ingredients. Dont get in a rush...I know its frustrating...I still cannot eat anything I want...like fresh veggies...just to hard to digest...but I know I will someday...just like you will too!! Good luck!!
