I Need A Friend.

Hey everyone...

On November 16th it's my last dietitian visit.

Last week I went to the heart doctor.. he said everything looks great.

Today I went to the lung doctor he told me my lungs are perfect but he wants me to do this machine over night (at home) to monitor how I sleep. GREAT -_-

I gained about over 20 pounds since I started this journey and feel really down about it.

I should be getting surgery Dec/Jan. & I'm VERY excited!

Talk to meeee :)

I want to hear your stories.

I too need friends. I have a date for surgery Nov 28. After 5 months it is getting close. I have no support in my life. My husband just ignores the subject and the only thing he said was what about me. What am I going to eat? I think he hopes I just don't do it. I have been a recluse for awhile so not many friends left. My sons are around but then again they are sons. I have serious medical issues and that is why I am having the surgery in hopes of getting my life back.

Hope you get a date soon and best of luck.

Hi Tiffany , don't ge down on your self we have all been through that with our weight , just try to watch what you eat . At this point I think that you should just try not to gain any weight or lose to much weight because I heard that it may affect you with your surgery. If you gain to much it shows that you have no control and if you lose , it shows that maybe you can do it on your own..

As for me , I started seeing my nutriionist in April , time has gone so quick. I was schedualed to get sleeved Oct 3 , then they pushed it to Oct 12 , then 3 days before my surgery they called and cancled me because of an issue with my insurance and Ironically today they told me that I am scheduled for Nov 13 , so I have to start my pre op liquid diet on Oct 30 th. I am not looking forward to that again.

what state are you from?

I feel for you. I too am pre-op. I have to have a sleep study in 2 weeks, then maybe 2 mos on an apnea machine before they will give me a surgery date. I am discouraged. My husband is also not the supportive type. But we will overcome!

I feel ya to, My husband is also not supportive, although he thinks he is because he went with me to see the surgeon. He asked the Dr. if he ever had anyone die on the table, that was it. I am tentatively scheduled for 12/19 awaiting approval. All my tests have been done and I know I qualify. I just hope my insurance doesn't decide to be asses about it and require more than what their policy says they do. Anyway, you have to do what is best for you, especially if it's to improve your overall health. They'll either deal with it, or they won't. Life goes on! Best of luck to you and hope you have a smooth recovery.

I gained weight before my surgery too. I struggled also with my pre-op diet. I remember feeling very down on myself too. But life before surgery and after will be very different. I can promise you that!!!! I'll be your friend too. I know what this is like. I am SO excited for you. This is going to be one of the best things you have ever done for yourself!!!!

Not sure if your surgeon requires a preop diet but I had to do one for two LONNNNGGG weeks! LOL It was the hardest two weeks of my life. I lost 15 pounds just on the pre op. I'm 5 months out and have lost 78 pounds to date. You will do fine and be so happy you did this. I won't lie, the first few months aren't easy but as the weeks go by. It gets easier. Good luck to you. :)

You will feel so much better if you get plenty of good sleep. I had a CPAP machine when I weighed 268. I stopped using it at around 200 and have just gone back to it because I was tired all the time. It feels great to be getting enough good sleep!

I would love to be your friend, I am still pre-surgery, have been seeing a doctor about my weight since March of 2012, only down 9 pounds, I have increased my excercise and am eating healthy, cut out drinking, I feel alot better than I did, also feel like I have lost more than 9 pounds, but the scale just doesn't show it. I have had my phych, dietician, sleep-eval, blood work, etc., I have my consultation Nov. 5th, and we will see what else they need me to do. Hopefully I am about ready to submit for surgery. It seems like I have been working on this forever. Keep me updated on your journey.

Lets be friends!! Lol! Tiffany...you are Def not alone!! This is my second attempt!!! I will tell you this is truly a life change and you HAVE TO BE PREPARE!!! This is your personal choice!! I have not included any one other than 2 of my bestfreinds and my hubby. People will always have something to say about your choices...but this is a LIFE MATTER...You will be healthy and that's all that matters...you will have this forum to be your support group!!! It SCARY AS HELL!!!! But it will be worth it!!! I went under 6 months ago!!! and they had to pull out of the surgery!!! I lost 15lb and yet my liver was to FAT!! That set me back in DEPRESSION MOOD!!! So learn from my experience!!! Eat less so that you wont do this a SECOND TIME AROUND!!! I hope I get a surgery Date in Jan or Feb!!

God Bless!!
