Bummed =(

So... I had my surgery over 2 years ago. I was at 225lbs when I had it and my lowest weight was 159. For a total of 66lbs. I really wanted to lose 80-100lbs but did not reach that goal, I was however happy breaking the 160 barrier which took me an additional 3 months to lose. Those were the hardest few lbs to lose I spent 2hrs at the gym 5 days a week and calorie counted. Needless to say it was tough and at times fun. I have 2 small children and their needs began surpressing mine, so out went the gym ...terrible I know. And then came the bad eating, we moved to a town where fat food is on every corner literaly! And I simply did not do to well. I have now gained 10lbs it keeps me up every night, that I let it come to this. I gained it over 6 months, saw myself going there but I justified by saying "I dont eat much anyway". I am now learning the hard way, not only is it how much you eat but what you eat. I'm trying to get back on the bandwagon and have eliminated red meat and trying to eliminated bread...baby steps. Hopefully I will force myself to find the time for "me" and get back in the gym. Has anyone had this experience? What have you done to help continue to lose weight. I was thinking of getting on Herbal Life but I havent looked to much into it yet, again baby steps. I actually came across this site while researching herbal life and sleeve patients. Any advice would help! Thanks for letting me vent, I actually fell better and I feel as if I finally have people I can talk to about this =)

I am by no way an expert but I am under the impression that when falling off the right path there are methods to get back on track. I myself am a newbie so hopefully someone can help shed some light with you. But my facilitator told me that when you hit a rough spot or go on vacation or as life sometimes happen you can always jumpstart the weight loss again by following the preop and post op diet again...I hope that helps. I haven't been thru this yet but can sympathize with you. I couldn't even imagine how upset I would be if I gained weight now or in 2 or even 10 years!!!

Jennabelle is right...I watched this woman on U tube who after 1 year of the sleeve gained 10 lbs in a very short period of time by eating a lot of granola.......she went on a protein liquid diet for a week and then liquid diet for a week and the weight was gone.........Her advice was stay away from granola people...lol.......but it worked. I am not an expert either..but I have remembered what she did in case it ever happens to me.....crossing my fingers...

I get sleeved Nov.6th :)

I am pre op and this is what scares me the most. I am so afraid of doing all the work and then in a year or two I fall back into my old bad habits. Since I'm not experienced enough in this I can't offer any advice personallly but I have read that it is best to stop it at 10lbs before it gets worse and harder to lose. I wish you the best and just try to remember the feelings you had before your surgery and what made you want it so bad.

Vanessa, You are not a failure! This is real life and it does not always go as planned. I'm sure that everyone will fall off the wagon at some time. You have done the best thing possible and that is realize the problem and take steps to correct it. I would just go back to the basics. Take time for you and get back to the gym if possible. Best of luck! I'm sure you will be back in the saddle soon!

It is hard... when i had my sleeve, when i reached my goal weight, i relaxed, and in many ways was able to introduce the occasional empty calorie into my diet... unfortuanately in the last six months, my empty calorie intake has gone through the roof due to smoking cessation....

My plan has been to reduce my empty calorie intake, which i have and i am now not putting anymore weight on... next step is the reduce calories... essentailly rules are the same irrespective of surgery or not.... Calorie in, need to be less than energy used to reduce the weight....

Was thinking of going back on modi fast for a week or two... which from RJS is what is recommended... However as my BMI is 25.. such drastic measures is viewed by many as being excessive....

There is a video by Kay Bailey online where she talks about the 5 day pouch test. 2 days of liquids, 1 day soft, 1 day firm, 1 day regular foods. It re-sets your metabolsim. You can probably find it online somewhere. It is an 8 min video.
