Getting My Calorie Intake Down

I'm really struggling today. No, I haven't been sleeved yet (that's still way in the future), but I'm trying to get my calorie intake down to 2000 so I can work my way down. I've been logging my eating into Myfitnesspal and it's already so over that I can't bring myself to log in the rest. Hopefully I'll do better tomorrow. I just am so shocked. I was trying to keep it down, but I get so hungry over the course of the day that I can't keep myself from eating, which is why I can't seem to lose any weight. I had no idea how much I was consuming. I'm sure I've had at least 2500 calories today, but I can't bring myself to type in the rest of my food and see. Oh, well. Tomorrow is another day and I'm sure I'll do better. I know where I went wrong today. Too much candy, too many processed foods, too little filling foods. I'm STILL hungry and I know I'll have to eat again because I have medications to take later that require being eaten with. SMH. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself. Getting in line is a process, it's not easy, and I shouldn't expect it to happen overnight. Hopefully preparing myself before I even see the nutritionist or doctors will set me up for success. I want to succeed, and I KNOW I can. I just have to have faith in myself and faith that God will see me through this. I know he wants me to be healthy.

My nutritionist told me before surgery not to focus on calories. Try to start drinking shakes, and eat a high protein, low carb diet. Get use to cutting out the carbs, not the calories. See it that works.

What New_Hope said is right, the calories aren't the issue for the first couple months. First thing my nut said was no drinking while eating, half hour before or hour after. Drink 64oz a day, and also make sure you're getting your protein in first. The biggest issue going forward is going to be what you choose to put in your mouth.

Today it may be that you need a lot of it to feel satisfied or full but the important part is to start choosing healthy foods. The surgery will help a ton w/ quantity, it won't necessarily force you to make better choices about what you eat. This I'm sure is an issue for all of us who use the forum. Good luck

Thank you for advice. I will try that. I do try to get plenty of protein, but it's hard sometimes to eat healthy because I'm in so much pain that I can't cook. I do make an effort to eat as well as I can, but sometimes I just give up for a couple days because it seems too hard. But I'm trying not to do that anymore and even restart my diet the next meal instead of waiting until the next day.

We all have our issues or we wouldn't be here. My advice is to look forward. We can't change yesterday. The fact that you want to eat better is the best start you can make. I agree you may want to start your day with a protein shake. And plan ahead, boil some eggs, have mozzarella sticks in the frig, make sure you have peanut butter in the cupboard and high fiber crackers, just in case you crave something. Good luck, it sounds like you're headed in the right direction.

Thank you. =) I was bad today, and had way too much junk food. I gave in, and I shouldn't have. It's only day 4 of my trying to eat better, it was bound to happen sometime. Gonna try better next time.
