Anyone Not Loosing Weight Right After Surgery

Hello everyone. I finally got sleeved on Sept. 18. I know I'm healing, but I figure if I'm not eating anything I should be loosing weight, right? I am still at the same weight as before surgery. Does anyone else have this problem? I guess I am just anxious about not seeing the scale move. I am very thankful that I did not have any problems with surgery and I seem to be recovering normally...just wondering why the scale isn't showing any results yet.

Thanks for listening!

My PCP told me your body just went through something traumatic & you won't see results the 1st week. She said trust the process-it WILL come off. I lost 3 lbs the 1st week-my surgery was the 12th & I also thought it was strange but what she said makes sense.

Not to worry - I gained 20 lbs in the hospital with all of the shenanigans that occurred after my surgery (internal bleeding + multiple blood transfusions) - You dont really have a choice to lose - just focus as much as you can on healing, hydration, and getting as much protein as you can in.When you look at the numbers after your first month i bet you will be surprised :)

I am 2.5 weeks out and i only lost 11lbs..nothing has come off in a week. I came home 6lbs heavier then when i went in and that took about 4 days to come off then i lost any extra water weight my body was holding onto. 2nd week i lost 3 and nothing since. I was told the same thing your body just went through something traumatic so it takes time for your body to catch up but it will. Don't get too frustrated. Also take your measurements if you haven't already...you would be surprised if the scale isn't moving but you are losing inches.

Everything I have read, and the experience of a couple of friends tell me that it takes a little time for the fluid to adjust and come off, and time for your body to recognize what has happened. Give it some time and focus on your healing instead of the weight. It will start to come off when your body has it's A-ha moment!
