Surgery Regrets

I had gastric sleeve on 8/7/12 and am down about 20lbs. I am so angry. I mean, I see these pictures in here where it seems like EVERYONE who is ANYONE is loosing weight. I feel like I am not. I was told this was going to be a fast way to loose the weight. And it is not. Granted, I can not eat the amount I used to, but I am so upset that I can not loose more weight, even with me exercising. am I the onyl one here dealing with this? What do others suggest I do?

I'm torn about this... because I think so much of this has to do with how much you work out. But I understand only losing -2 lbs a week or something is completely frustrating. I'd like nothing more than to snap my fingers and drop 60 lbs but it didn't come on overnight so it's not coming off overnight. I'm working out 2 to 5 hours a day (I swim) and I'm not a gym person. Chin up, look into some fun zumba or salsa dancing classes. See if you can spice things up. Don't get angry- it will just cause you to stress and you have to be nice to yourself- love yourself. Your sleeve loves you, and it's not going to let you fail. If you want to lose weight faster, you just simply have to move more. Easier said than done, I know... but you're on the right track!!!!

I work for doctors and there are 4 flights of stairs here. So I try to do at least 28 flights per day. But it just is not helping. I think i am going to just go back to my liquid diet since that worked

A lot of the stuff I've read has really pushed me to workout a minimum of 1 hour a day straight through high cardio etc. Do you walk or anything besides doing the stairs, I knows stairs really kill some poeples back and knees. I'm a big advocate of swimming and walking, adding it in to see if it changes things up.

I had surgery on 6/27 and I am only down 30lbs! My start weight was 264 and I'm now at 233. I had a post-op visit with my surgeon yesterday and he really made me feel horrible. I am still dealing with effects from surgery and I have yet to be able to eat more than 4 bites of anything. I eat the right way; I was not a heavy eater before surgery. I do not exercise as much as I should and I have changed to 5 work outs per week (I was previously at 2 due to my schedule). I feel defeated and unhappy with the results. My doctor repaired a severe hernia tear and diagnosed me with H. Polori, but I don't think it should slow down progress. My weight loss goal is 85 lbs, thought he wants me to lose 100+. Please know that I understand how you feel.

I feel like you have to find what works for you. I've lost almost 40 at 2 months and have not exercised at all. I try to get in a lot of protein but sometimes I eat too little. Then I'll eat more carbs than protein on a certain and I'll drop a lot within a couple days of that. It varies. Try mixing things up-- more water, less protein, more calories, less calories. I think we all have something that works better for us. Your body can't hang onto the weight with a huge reduction in calories forever...it's impossible. Good luck!

@tony179...thanks for the encouragement and congratulations on your success! If only it was that easy for me. I will keep at it, my husband is a great support and he says the same thing that you do. I'm just different.

I agree. yet my husband had banding and feels totally defeated. breaks my heart when he is litterally crying to the dr about his weight. yet I am the loud mouth italian who cries because I am not a walking miracle!
